I appreciate the input. It is a software issue. It is not a matter of a part coming in. An electrical engineer from Ram has been assigned. If I were to check the truck out it would start the process with "STAR" all over again. I would love to have the truck until they had a part come in, but that is not reality for this issue.
I thought they put the wrong computer in?
That is a part problem, not a software issue.

I agree with others, lemon law. A good lemon law lawyer can come up with some reason that driving the truck unfixed is dangerous, which is usually the prerequisite.

There has got to be a lemon law in your state you can hang over their head. They have had the truck waaaay too long. In most states there are laws that require them to get an issue fixed in a certain amount of time with a new vehicle. They should get you in into a new truck. Time to check with your local legislator and make them earn your tax dollars.

They keep building them more and more complicated, and harder and harder to repair-----where is it going to stop??? With all the electronics, computers, sensors and wiring etc when is it going to stop? A new Ram equal to my 98 1500 gets roughly the same MPG and can do the same things but at more than twice the cost and I can just imagine the insurance premiums! Just my 2 cents, Art

Update: The dealer called me yesterday. Apparently everything came to a stop because Ram's field technician had not seen this before. One of the supervisors at Ram technical services has ordered the truck a new PCM and said it would be expedited.

I told the dealer I replaced my 2012 because my family just bought a travel trailer, and our maiden voyage is next weekend. If the part is not in the first part of next week, I am picking up the truck and will bring it back when the PCM arrives.

Other than waiting a week and a half for a rental car, the dealer has been good about contacting me and keeping me updated. I cannot say the same for Ram Cares and would not bother using them again. I have talked to the guy two times in two and a half weeks. I called him once, he called me once. He then just repeated what the dealership told me and did not seem to have any pull at all with getting things expedited on Ram's end. When I pushed back on some of the answers he was giving me he sounded like a robot reading a script.

So here is the thing I am seeing. Ram dealerships are famous for not wanting to give loaners. Second. You are paying for a vehicle that you did not get. Lemon law? False advertising. Cause they advertised a vehicle that it was not. Amongst other things. I would be pushing this issue hard. The issues are on them, not you. I would also seriously talk with your bank that financed you. It's actually their truck till it's paid for. I don't think they will.be happy to know about this. Unfortunately ram see us as little people. Ram care is a complete joke.

To me this is the equivalent of leaving your truck at the dealer because a window won't roll up and down, then complaining you have nothing to drive and aren't being treated right. Grow up, go get the truck and stay on their ass to get the proper part in. When it arrives take it in a get it fixed. It took the dealer almost 3 months to get a new GPS in on warranty, I sure didn't leave my vehicle there waiting for a non-essential part.
So true

My neighbor bought a 2021 etorque ram and within a week the etorque system failed. It took five weeks to get needed parts!!!

I bought a 2019 Classic Ram in October just because all of the 5th gen rams on the lot were etorque…no thank you!!!!

Hello. I was hoping my first post would be something positive like how much I am enjoying my new, beautiful truck. But no. I picked up my 2022 Laramie Hemi-eTorque in November. I immediately noticed the start/stop system did not work. It would say "Not ready" with no other explanation. After waiting a month to get into the dealer, I found out it was built incorrectly at the factory. The truck was given the wrong computer (basically). Now Ram is dragging their feet and my brand new truck is sitting at a dealer going on week 2. This is my 4th Ram and the first time I have had any issues. I am bummed out and regretting the eTorque very much. I figured year three they would have the bugs worked out. I was wrong. To make matters worse, they do not have a loaner car to give me. I am self employed and have no indication on when problem will resolve. Rant over.

My rant wouldn't be over.

On limited Rambox is standard, have to take it off.
Good question though.

Not sure who you were responding to but I don't believe that is correct, at least for the U.S. market. The limited has the air suspension standard that cannot be declined during the build, in Canada you can decline the air suspension. I've done several online builds of limiteds and the ram box was always an additional option like any other trim.

Yeah, check out the lemon laws. They shouldn't be able to screw you around like this.

Show me any car dealers service department that cares or who knows what they're doing. If you can, it will be the first one I've ever seen in my life, and I'm an old dude. And, if you think they care, they've buffaloed you, too.
Helms Motor Company, Lexington TN . Local dealer in business under the same family since 1963. Excellent service and treatment in sales. The owner is there daily so if you did have a problem you could go straight to him and he would bend over backwards to help. I’ve never had to do that though- Todd, the service manager is great, too. I’ve bought four vehicles from them.

You know all dealer ship, service depts. are not equal!! Some service managers are incentivized to get the max profit out of their depts. I bought my Ram in and asked if they could just have a mechanic listen to the Tic tic lifter noise. Was told to leave over night $150 to $200 just to listen?????
THANKS RAM SERVICE, BUT YOU FAIL OVER AND OVER.

I feel your pain. My 2021 Big Horn's Trailer Reverse Steering Control has never worked. While not as severe as your problem, it is a disappointment. We bought the truck to tow a travel trailer.

It's been going to the dealer about once a month since May, as Stellantis/Ram tries different things, seemingly random things, to fix it. And it's going in again on Friday, this time the rear camera is going to be replaced. So far the dealer has reset the computer, then it was reprogrammed, then it was replaced. The rear camera software recall was done next. Ram technicians then had a Zoom conference with my dealer as they drove it around with my trailer in their lot. Then Ram sent a technician to my dealer. He couldn't figure out why it didn't work either. Then that afternoon the dealer called me and told me that Ram says the problem is the rear camera itself, supposedly the only sensor involved in the system (and one that appears to work just fine). My dealer's service manager, whose got 25 years of experience, finds it difficult to believe that the only sensor used is the rear camera. So he has asked (several times) for a complete list of all the parts used in the system. Apparently this is something Ram is not willing to give to him. It seems that the system was purchased from a third party vendor. Ramcares has mentioned that if they can't get it to work, they will hand me a check for $900, which was the cost of the towing option package. Frankly, I don't need the money, I'd rather have the system work. I had considered buying a Ford which has a similar system. However, the Ram seemed to be a better truck overall.

Oh, I will take the check, but only if they tell me there is no way they can fix it, and exactly why. Frankly my Dear Wife is more angry about it. She's never liked backing a trailer, even with the camera on the back of this one. Her reaction to the last dealer visit was: "Enough of this bull$#!+, make them give us another truck. We could have bought the other one". She is referring to the Ford we test drove, that had a similar option, but one that is not as easy to set up as the Ram. Well supposedly.

I should have added that Ram Cares is absolutely worthless. They opened a case, called me the first day and then nothing. I called him today asking about my case, you could tell he was reading a script. Disappointment and frustration is now becoming anger.

I sold my 2012 Ram with 140,000 trouble free miles for this truck. I needed the extra towing and payload for my travel trailer. I would love to have my old truck back right now.
You can have your old truck back, in a way. Go get a classic. That's what I did. I Spent 1 whole terrible year with the all new 2019 Ram 1500 and finally couldn't do it anymore. I traded it for a 2020 classic 1500. Way way better! No only is the classic problem free, I like inside layout a thousand times better then the new one.
No turbos from ford, no direct fuel from gm, just gold old fashion mopar muscle :)
