Since there are so many different Cold Air Intakes too choose from. What are some of the preferred ones too use. Best bang for your buck?

I wouldn't go for best bang for your buck when it comes to CAIs ... If I was going to get one I would go with this one here from AFE , the sealed design is what I like the most and it has a sealed housing with auxiliary air scoop and it's plug and play/direct fit

This OE CAI was on my 5.7 from the dealership. I can’t complain it was paired with the OE catback exhaust, it seems to do it’s job, I’ve changed the OE high flow filter once as a spare while the other is soaking, but there’s plenty of room inside the box for different shapes and sizes of filters to experiment.

I have mine for looks and sound. I knew that when I bought it, still have no regrets but I can't tell anything performance or MPG improvements but would still do it again.

I upgraded the lower air box in mine to the 6.4/3.0 air box for the increased air horn size to the fender and the larger stock filter. Had an s&b that I sold off previously with 0 noticeable change in power. Reason I changed was I was getting water in the s&b air box due to my off-road bumper and cut fender liners exposing the lower tube on the s&b. The new style s&b intakes do not have that lower tube anymore.

I’ve installed cai systems on several trucks over the years. Most don’t do much in terms of power or mpg. Typically, they are advertised to gain 12-20 horsepower at 4500 rpm….who normally drives at that rpm??? So, they is probably some gain, and they look and sound cool. I have noticed on my 2019 Ram that the exhaust is a bit louder with my magnaflow.

Having said that, I recently installed an Injen closed system for $300. I’ve never had a cai that was so well built and so well designed…the fit was absolutely perfect.

Volant systems never fit well and I’ve always had to make modifications, though I like the Donaldson power flow filter.

S&B fits well and looks good but I hated having to disassemble the wheel well liner for two bolts….especially with wheel well flares that had to be removed….gruesome!

I would not. Use one. For the last 6 months 10k miles I was using a drop in k@n filter. I switched back a few weeks ago to stock filter and no difference at all.
Yes, the computer controls and adjusts everything. CAI is for carbonated engines.

Try a different filter. I changed from a WIX to a Fram - I can tell a difference in the sound.

I can't push this truck too much, if I ever floored the gas peddle I would soon be over the speed of sound.

Like others have said, CAI really don't help gain anything which is why I haven't added one ... if I wouldn't of been able to get that AFE for $75 I would of only because of the design and the sound it gives the Ram 1500s with it on ... AFE is down the street from me and I have seen a lot of Ram 1500s with AFE mods and I like the sound ....

I bought a used 2011 that has a CAI on it. Not sure the make, but it does have a K&N filter on it. Not sure how I feel about having it on there. Probably will just leave it alone.

I have an aFe on mine but it is not the one pictured. Not sure what model it is but it has a really nice intake pipe without all of those crazy ripples in it for a smoother flow I would guess, has the 5R filter, and the aFe air box top to cover everything so it is completely closed. It does retain the stock lower part of the air box which was fine with me as it seems to scavenge cold air from the fender area.

No complaints. Little bit of sound and throttle response maybe. Looks good too.

An intake on a stock or close to stock vehicle will offer very small hp gains, probably not enough to feel. However it will give you added throttle response, which you will feel as well as added sound and under hood looks.

Now if you plan to do other mods like headers, TB, etc....along with a tune a CAI is a great complimentary mod. By itself a CAI is a minor mod but when combined with other mods it becomes a bigger asset.

Anyone interested in any of the mods mentioned feel free to message me for more info and pricing.

I have the S&B CAI on my 6.4 and absolutely love it. Has clear top to check on when it needs cleaning and an additional side port you can remove to let that thing drink. The sound is awesome. Zero issues. Easy install if you are handy. Customer service is great. I have the cleanable filter but they sell the replaceable ones if you don't want to deal with that.
