$230 is high but so is everything else anymore. Somethings a person can get cheaper elsewhere but a key fob is something I would get at the dealership just to make sure it worked.
You can buy Mopar OEM fob from Rockauto for about $120
Most auto locksmith's will charge $40 to program & $20 to cut key if you bring to them.
So you save $50

I talked to the local Ace and they won't program a key if its not from them. So if you plan to do that, make sure you talk to the locksmith or hardware store first. Buying a key and programming from the dealer was $10 more than the hardware store, and the OEM key looked better.

I just had the Jeep RFID key programmed today. Like I say the local dealership was $40 for programming. My older Jeep has regular metal key and they 'cut' it with a real key cutter ..not copying from my old worn key. So the new key has nice crisp corners like a brand new key. While I was at it I had them program a spare fob I bought from a swap meet for $5.

I see keys like yours sell at car swap meets for like $20-$25. Let me see if I can find a card with a guy's info.

Ended up getting 2 new OEM fobs and valet keys from ebay for $120/pair and $65 to a local locksmith for 10 minutes of his time to plug in some kind of scanner and program them. Didn't look like any scanner I have ever seen/used. Don't know what kind it was. But it cost me $6.50/minute for his time.
I myself own a snap on Solus, shop I work at has an OTC Genisys and an Auto Enginuity.
I've borrowed a factory DRB in the past.
Of the ones I own and/or have access to, I did not see any prompt within that would allow me to program myself.

My local stealership said $150ish for the fob, $33 for the valet key plus $80 to program for ONE KEY. And the fob and valet key were that much with 20% off. Their "list" for the fob itself was $191. Without a valet key!
I got 2 keys with valets and programmed for the price of 1 from the stealership w/o their programming fee and still feel like I got screwed.

There's an enterprising 'kid' (well, he's not really a kid anymore) who comes each yr to a large-ish classic car swap meet and sell tons of used (and some new) remotes for all different vehicles. He charges 6 bucks and up ...usually $6-8 for common vehicles. Then program with my scanner. If you find a guy like that it's great to grab an extra just in case.
