Hey,
I have an 03 dodge 1 ton dually 4x4 with the 5.9 and am wanting g to run the 255/80r/17 tires on my factory wheels....just wonder if I would have issues with the tires being too close together with a load....this is my welding rig so it would be loaded all the time. Just trying to get a 33" tall tire without dropping g an arm and a leg for different wheels and tires...
Thx

Because you can't go by tread width, you're almost going to have to find a friendly tire shop that is willing to mount the tires and you'll buy them if they work. YOu should have 3/4" min between the sidewalls to avoid kissing when all is said and done, and as you probably already know, you'll be running them at max PSI. And to add more confusion to the problem, different manufacturers are going to be different widths. You're from Oregon so you're familiar with Les Schwab. They mounted some 235's on my truck and when I saw how narrow they were compared to the 235 Michelins that I was replacing, I told them I didn't want them and picked out a wider tire. They were happy to oblige even though they were busy. They were looking at a 6 tire sale and the tires weren't cheap haha. Good luck
