Hey Guys,

I got my first Ram truck in love it. Test drove fords and Chevys and Ram is above and beyond the former trucks.

However, I have 3 things I would like to improve on the truck.
1. Headlights - does anyone recommend an HID conversion kit? I did this to my mustang years ago and love it. My truck has the yellow standard bulbs still and they just don't light the road like I would like. (Note my high-beams are a separate bulb so I don't think I can use a hi-low conversion)

2. The back light is terrible for doing anything in the truck bed at night. Any suggestions on making it brighter.
NOTE: I have a truck bed topper, so I would suggestions on how to get light in there when the top is on.

3. Suggestions on how to install a 120V outlet in the truck bed so I can use a power tool in remote areas.

Thanks for the help and maybe I will see you on the road!!

Welcome and congrats on the truck. I replaced all my forward facing bulbs with Phillips Crystal Vision and am really happy. Whiter and bright than the previous bulbs.
As far as the bed, my dad mounted an LED strip under the bed rail and had it wired to the taillights. It improved vision in the bed with his tonneau cover.
As far as remote outlet, beyond my expertise. But I will say, I am sure someone in this forum has done it.

Good luck and keep us informed of mod progress.

Welcome from az. I'm curious about putting in a outlet in my bed. Just have not researched anything as of yet. Keep us posted

Ram makes a oem bed inverter. My 2022 just came with it there is a button in the dash to activate it. I'll take pictures tomorrow.

Great. Looking forward to it.
I would like to run a circular saw or a leaf blower if possible.

Check out leds, they are easy to install. I had the yellow bulbs on my 2019 big horn but I changed them and now I can see at night. It’s just plug and play.

Do you know what bulb the truck uses? I bought my truck used and I don't have a manual.

I think that is only 400W. So about 3amps.

It uses an h11 bulb for the low beam and the fog lights if you decide to change out both which is what I did.

No way the OEM inverter will supply enough current for a circular saw. It's pretty wimpy. You'll want to go with an aftermarket inverter that's rated for that kind of use.

Probably not. Mine says only 400w so not much will run off of it. You will need 1500watt inverter at that point to run basic power tools. With having to idle your truck I used carry a small generator as it's less wear and tear on your truck. I do work construction and with current cordless tools available I rarely run any corded tools anymore. I use my inverter a lot charging batteries on the way to the job.

This is for once in a blue moon stuff. I won't be doing it regularly and I don't want to go replace all my working Corded power tools.

That seems like more of a hassle then flipping a switch in the bed. Obviously installing would be more of a hassle at first, but be super convenient after the fact.

:D:D:D Only on the internet could a flashlight seem like "more of a hassle" than wiring new lights into a truck. Honestly, this might be the best post I've seen in a long time.

Not only is the headlamp infinitely less work, it's also infinitely more versatile since it can be used literally everywhere and not just in the truck bed. Need to look in the engine compartment? Headlamp. Drop something next to the truck? Headlamp. Need to look under the truck? Headlamp. Need to look under your seats? Headlamp.

Man, this is a good one.
