Hey guys, for the last several months I’ve noticed that the driver side upper map light goes to a dimmer brightness sometimes when I use it. I’m pretty sure they’re LED but are those lights easily replaceable? Sure, I could just use my factory warranty that runs out the end of December to have the dealer fix it but if it’s an easy fix, I’d just rather fix it myself instead of having to take it to the dealer. Thanks.

They are weird proprietary lights. I'd go through warranty and then when it happens again go here...

Well shoot, I already ordered me a 6 piece set of LED panels from Amazon as per a video I finally found on YouTube from that boosted motorsports guy out in California. His video was pretty informative on the front lights so yeah, using warranty the first time might probly be better in some ways but if so many people have had issues with these factory lights, I think I’d just much rather skip the hassle of warranty and get something in there a whole lot brighter and hopefully a whole lot better and more reliable.

Its a common problem apparently. Happened to my 2015 RAM, replaced under warranty. AFAIK the factory LED bulbs in there were non replaceable. Under warranty they would replace the entire console. After watching the video I didn't realize it was so easy! It was also nice to watch an entire video without seeing any political ads.

Homelink buttons and rear window switch and all? Hmm, maybe I just may have to make a warranty claim.

As far as I remember they replaced the entire thing, said it was a one piece unit. wouldn't hurt to ask for sure.

How long ago did you have yours changed and have you still had that problem? I bought my truck brand new in December of 17 but it’s been around a year now where I noticed my driver side map light started flickering and dimming.

I'm pretty sure they just replace the actual housing. They do sell the assembly with the LED lights without the Homelink/Compass module and rear window switch.

Fairly easy to replace.
