I have a 1985 dodge d100 and I need to know if it is hub centric or lug centric.

Thanks

the old trucks are lug centric. most 'universal' after market wheels are lug centric. you can get a hub centric ring if you know the center bore measurement and the rim center bore measurement

One thing I'm confused about is all the after market wheels say they are not compatible with hub centric rings. Is this something they just have to say to protect them from liability?

Could be a liability disclaimer. One way or the other works; can't truly be both.

due to aftermarket wheels having to fit so many different automobiles is is not cost effective to make them hub centric. but they can all be lug centric. If you want both get a set of BORA spacers. they will be both hub and lug centric.

Again, can't truly do both hub and lug centric.... one takes over. The factory allows a few thou' or even up to ~1/8" loose fit on the hub (as is the case on 2 of my d250s).

Tapered seat lugnuts, when done up tight are like a press fit, overriding a slip-fit on the hub. A flange lugnut (duallies, newer Ford's, etc) doesn't center anything, so slip-fit on the hub is as good as it gets.
