It's been 10 days but thought I would share. Hit and run. $12,000.00 worth of damage to my almost mint condition 2017 Rebel, only 26,000 miles. 30 mph by me and who knows on the scumbag who hit me. He crossed over the double yellow at the last minute. He never touched his brakes. I did but it was too late.
His old car actually went under my front end, and he had to try three times before he could back out and take off. I was still trying to stand up. I told the kid who stopped to help to get his license plate as he drove off and he did.
Plates were not on the right car and the scumbag probably has no insurance even if we find him in Mo. I am in Ks.
Truck is in shop waiting for parts.
I have a sprain neck, back and right shoulder.
Some days you have to really dig deep to find the good.

Wow! No frame damage? Hmmm...the cast aluminum a-arm and spindle mounts broke clean away. I thought cast aluminum was stronger than that. Now you know where the weak areas in the suspension are. OTOH, those parts breaking might have saved your frame and more down-stream damage. So that's one thing to be thankful for.

And you're still alive, unlike a buddy of mine who passed away 2 weeks ago unconscious ...on a ventilator (not vaccinated). So there's two good things. Trucks/parts can be replaced. But I know first hand how crappy it feels when irresponsible people screw up yer day/stuff. Been there.

Keep up the faith brutha! Hopefully it'll be back to it's good-as-new self again soon.

Man, sounds like I have a long lost twin. Dude was .33 drunk at noon, attempted to run after crossing center divide and hitting me, police caught him in river bed. My neck has been crooked since, 30 years plus. Best part, when they caught this guy they gave him a grand total of 11 days in jail. Hopefully things have changed and you get some justice when they catch that dude. I am forgiving of accidents in life, but hit and run people and dui idiots should spend a decade in a room thinking about what they did imo. It could always be worse, you got a second chance, make it count. That truck was 6 months old, they fixed it but it was rickety, I traded it on a bronco. The value was too high because truck was brand new, they should have totaled it, but numbers game bullsnot. I wanted something big, thank god you were in a ram and not a prius. Glad you made it.

one of us has 26ft of skid, one 30ft, we were on freeway, impact estimate 90mph. Both were trucks and what saved us, both trucks were raised so the movement down scuffed off most of the impact, the people following me said my rear end was 6ft in the air, almost went over. I remember nothing except going to the hospital in the front seat of a CHP, too far out for ambulances, middle of nowhere. Now, I have the largest ranch hand bumper I could find, lol.

Yep, that was one clean truck and it looks like you took real good care of her.

From one Rebel owner to another, I hope they catch that ******* and that you mend up well.

@wesplains, glad you are still with us.

I have beem hit by a non insured mis-tagged vehicle also, I feel your pain and anger. Karma is a b*tch, and it will come back around in the end.

Prayers going out for your speedy recovery, the catching of the one responsible, and the successful repair of your truck.

So sorry this happened to you, Wes. It's been only one week since this debacle and one would expect you to be still sore, physically and emotionally. What a dirt bag that guy is that caused this.

The impact was so hard that people that lived along the road told me it felt like someone had hit their house. Plus, I cracked a filling.

Jeep, all true thank you.
You're lucky it's just a few sprains & a cracked filling. How long before you get the truck back?

Sucks that it happened & you still suffer with the neck. It could've been a lot worse at 90 mph. Glad to hear that's "all" ( not meaning to minimize your injuries) that happened.

It might be a good thing that they didn't catch him, it would have pissed you off more when they would have let him go.

Thanks, oddly I dont really suffer, no pain to speak of, it's just crooked, lol. That was one of two wrecks that I thank my lucky stars with every time I think about it. The other one was more scary because I had more time to be scared, rolled a bread truck doing 65 and slid a football field or two in length, left bread all over the place. Back tire blew out and I was sideways, hit a hill and flipped and slided and slided and slided. Worse injury from that was unhooking myself from the seatbelt, I landed drivers side up, and went smashing down into a bunch of glass. But the head on was worse, way worse, that impact was narly.

The wreck happen back in Jan this year. It took me this long on a waiting list to get it into the best body shop around to fix what the first shop did not. Turns out (as I thought) the frame is bent. The adjuster has already approved the frame replacement. Since he missed it the first time.

I do not get a new frame (if one could even be had). I get one from a wreck truck that the frame did not get damage.

I also get to pay for my rental since all my insurance days were used up while the first shop dicked it up.

Sorry to whine, but it is illegal to (input whatever) the pos that hit me and then took off.

I feel your pain. It's going to be deep into the fall (at the earliest) by the time you get this back. That's like a nightmare scenario. Make sure you instruct the shop you want a decent rust-free frame ...not something trucked in from N. Minnesota, or soaking underwater in the salts of New Orleans ....LOL

I imagine there are a lot of flood vehicles or heavy hail damaged vehicles which were totaled out that have perfetly good frames. Freshwater floods would be the best or a hail-damaged truck from N. Tx.

Best of luck. Keep us to speed how this turns out.

Glad you made it out alive, that scumm will pay some day for what he did, you for sure are going to check out the frame that they are going to use, make sure its southern or west coast location, with no salt being used!!!

Good to hear you are okay. I can relate to your frustration. Woman ran a red light in a turn lane and ended my relationship with my last truck. The insurance company at first was telling me it would be fixed and would take 4-6 weeks at that time (Feb of 22) to repair. Get a call couple hours later saying that the truck was going to be totaled. Only 3 positive take aways 1 no one ways hurt that bad. 2 she just bought her SUV (karma) . 3 I now own a 2019 express with a hemi…0705E6CE-5295-48E6-AEA3-DFFA9F5F720D.pngC3A75B81-DD1C-4273-8580-B92BD2AC820E.png55BBD002-3418-44F2-8DF6-18DF4DC7A3C5.png

Small update on my truck/wreck. Truck went back into 2nd body shop on 16 Aug 22. Got it back on 30 Sept 22. The shop refused the used frame Progressive Ins. sent and convinced them to pay for a brand new frame. So that was a nice touch.

Since they had to switch everything to the new frame that meant new coolant, new brake fluid, new alignment and a few other things. This body shop also replaced some small items with new that the other shop did not. Like headlight brackets.

So some small goodness came from it. Also bought a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited as my back up vehicle. So all ends as well or better than it could have.

Thanks to all for the kind words. Be safe out there. Wes.
