On 2-17-2022 check gas cap light came on, took cap inside and cleaned it and rubber seal. No visible signs of rips, tears or cracks. Put it back on and still get the light. So today, 2-18-2022, I went to local dodge dealer to get a new gas cap. Put it on and still the same. The service manager offered to read the codes and clear them. Here is the fun part.......no codes that pertain to anything fuel/evap etc related. He stated that it could be anything at this point from a bad ground, to a faulty cluster and everything in between.

Any ideas or advice?

On mine and my dad's truck it ended up being the integrity detector.

If you get that or any other code
First go to a local Autozone, Orielleys, Advance auto parts & ask them to use their scan tool to get the code
Ask them to write it down for you
Then let us know, you will find there is a book of knowledge hanging around in here

If you have replaced the cap, its either the canister on top of the gas tank. Easy replacement, or the one under the hood.
I suspect it's the one on top of the tank, in my experience with 4th generation ram trucks. It's doubtful it's wiring... imho

Been there @ around 65k miles. I tried the gas cap, no change. $30 evap leak detection pump from autozone did the trick and was easy to install. Gas cap went back... liked the stock one better lol.

The check gas cap message really never should have been used, all it does it confuse people. It doesn’t actually mean the gas cap is leaking. It means there is a large enough evap leak that is equivalent to a loose or missing gas cap.

The PCM has to be reset with a scan tool to clear the gas cap message or you have to wait for enough good trips for the PCM to clear it on its own. I would start with doing a capacitive discharge first, and see if the issue persists.

To do the capacitive discharge, disconnect both battery cables from the battery then touch them together for a few seconds and leav the battery disconnected for 30 minutes. Then reconnect and see if the light is still there.

I would bet it's the Evap Canister on the tank. Same thing happened to me. Swapped it out and all is good. It is toward the rear of the tank. There's a small tab on the bottom of the canister that will release the tab that holds it on. Twist it counter clockwise about a quarter of a turn, and it'll pull off. Reverse that to put the new one on.

I ordered mine off of Amazon for about $20.

I think you mean the ESIM, not the canister. The ESIM is a pretty common fault of evap leaks.

Vapor leak detection pump is the official name
Not to be picky lol, but it used to be called the leak detection pump then it was replaced with the next generation which was the NVLD (natural vacuum leak detector). In the mid 2000s it was replaced by the ESIM (evaporative systems integrity monitor). They all accomplish the same task just in slightly different ways. The newest version, the ESIM is nothing more than a check valve and a sensor to read open or closed. Still a common failure though. The old systems actually used a electrical solenoid to block ports inside to check for evap leaks, which made them even more prone to failure.

ESIM & Purge Valve are more likely to cause the Gas Cap light to come on, then the Gas Cap itself.

They had to use a Gas Cap idiot light, because they are not allowed to give you the Finger

I had the same issue untill I spread a light film of grease on the seal, After that the issue went away.

Could it be the ESIM after a new fuel pump is installed?

that code could mean

Bad Purge Valve, can be checked with a Mighty Vac tool, some ppl have use their lips to do the test

Bad ESIM

Gas cap would be the last thing to check

very good DIY video
