Bought a 2010 1500 used. TPMS intermittently shows the left tire flat. Some times it's the right rear. Never the front tires. Took it to the local tire store to sync them and check batteries. They said batteries were good so it must be in the computer. Anybody have this before or heard of this? Going to need tires soon so I was wondering if new sensors are needed or is it the computer. I looked at old threads but they talk about the TPMS showing dashes. Mine show an incorrect pressure.

Op, ram sensors automatically sync with the vehicle, so if not showing pressure on dash, move the visible tires that have pressure showing to different points on the vehicle, say back tires on front. Go for a drive over35 mph an wait for the computer to register the sensor.

If the tire sensor comes up in the front when it was in the back originally then the sensor works, if it does not, then you have other issues.

Remember the 2010, 11 and 12 models used a different frequency for the sensor. Good luck

well I have rotated the tires but it's too early to tell. if I understand right, I don't need to have the sensors synced to the truck? so far it's behaving. I looked up the module and man that thing is expensive.

Now the front sensors, formally the rear, are acting up. So that means the sensors are bad, correct? I also saw some were there was a reset button to the right of the steering wheel?

If the fault moved you have a bad sensor. I would wait till I get tires and have the sensors replaced then. The batteries last about 5 years. As far as I know the only way to reset them is with a scanner that is made for the TPMS. Usually tire stores will have them. Discount tire will reset for free. At lease the one near me will.

Read the above posts.
I would do some self education on tpms in general.
Next, RAM tpms for your year model.
Air up the tires to spec, do a drive as mentioned above.
Expect that your newfound tpms knowledge will exceed that of most techs and service advisors. Be patient and kind asking questions of them. They may not remember or were even properly tpms trained. Kindness may get you a tpms flash that they normally charge for at a tire shop.
Sure some tire stores will do it free but if it’s not their tire or work….
Work from simple to complex troubleshooting. Cheap fixes to expensive ones.
Tpms units sometimes get damaged with a tire installation. Sometimes they quit working at some random time.
A goofy sensor(s) may be in the history of your truck.

Make sure of your tire pressures while you troubleshoot. Eventually a fix will happen.

Cheers
