just replaced a 5.7 in a '08 with a reman engine replaced water pump, all the radiator hoses, radiator, thermostat, even the thermostat housing. The only thing in the cooling system that isn't new is the heater core. Is there something I missed or is the thermostat going to be the likely problem.

Could it be a temp sensor not reading correctly?

no it's getting hot, I shut it off before it reached the critical mass but after physically checking the radiator it was boiling.
