Will a topper for a 5’7” bed fit the same size Rambox bed. I’m willing to cover the Ramboxes for a long trip where a topper would be more beneficial. I just won’t use them for the trip. I know there are no commercial made Rambox toppers and don’t need the Ezlifts for just one trip. Looking for a used topper but need to know what will work.

One hurdle to putting a topper on a Rambox bed will be clamping the topper down. They use clamps that go under the bed rail to hold it down..

I don't know why it would not work

a little foam or rubber to go in between the topper & the Ram Box lids, something that will not mar the lids

Then some metal bracing to hold the topper down, when you are doing 70 mph
You would not want to bolt to the lids but some distance closer to the truck bed floor

What @crash68 said, the top of the bed is wider so you'd have to make your own mounts. Personally I would run a tonneau cover before I tried to make a topper secure to a rambox. Plus you could even haul things on top of the cover. Granted it couldn't be too heavy, but still available stowage.

I am a big fan of a Canopy on a truck. Have had one on all my pickups over the years but in this case I am with Bandit, Toneau cover would be a far better idea. Getting a topper to mount and stay on would be a real big problem.

Thanks for all of the input. I was thinking about using these hold down clamps. What do you think about these? Would they work ok? Of course, I would have to create a mounting point at the L track on the bed. EAC8CDED-DD8B-4EAC-99CF-4BA8BD555FFE.jpeg

You asked for advice, we gave it. If you still want to go ahead and try Jerry Rigging something then have at it. Best of luck.

I wasn't offended. Personally, I have often done things that others have said won't work. Sometimes I was right, actually most often, other times I should have listened. You will never know unless you give it a shot. I wasn't being sarcatsitc when I said best of luck, I really meant it. Hope to hear back as to how it went.

Thank you for that. I’m actually going from Atlanta to Alaska and was more concerned about security and capacity. A pocket knife could get full acces with my toneau cover. I love my Ramboxes but they’ve become a challenge with this project. My initial question was, will the standard bed topper “fit”? Are they the same dimensions or is one slightly different? I know it’s not going to be load and go.

They make some very good, hard toneau covers. My brother has one on his pickup. Security wise it is at least as good as my canopy, probably better because there aren't any windows. It doesn't take much to reef on the handle and break the locking mechanism, I have done it accidentally thinking one was just frozen.

Thanks for that. I’ll do some more head scratching, no hair left anyway. I appreciate your input.

If you decide to add rails inside the bed of a Rambox truck

Don't use screws to hold the rails in place, instead use bolts & nuts

The Ramboxes themselves will lift out, after removing several fasteners
Once the boxes are removed, do your measuring & drilling
then using some metal bar stock on the inside of the rambox housing to beef up the sheet metal

that way your sheet metal will be sandwiched between the bar stock & the new bed rails, that would make your rails real sturdy.
Then you could figure out a way to hold down the canopy or topper

Videos on how to temporarily remove the Ramboxes

While the Ramboxes are out, spray some good primer type paint inside that area, especially around the fender seams
