2022 1500 ram Laramie—tailgate

Do 2022 1500 Laramie’s have an indicator light if tailgate is open? Mine does not seem to have one but i thought maybe it was disconnected when they put in my bed cover. It shows it has one in my manual but the dealship is saying my model does not have one. Hard to believe as it’s a safety issue. Any confirmation on this?

My 2021 Limited has an indicator, and so did the 2020 Laramie I used to own. What other options does your Laramie have? The best way to know if your truck is supposed to have a particular option is to check the build sheet. If your truck is equipped with it you'll find "Tailgate Ajar Warning Lamp" listed in the build sheet.

Tailgate ajar on the Laramie trim is an option in one of the option packages. Put your VIN into the link GTYankee provided and search the build sheet for "Tailgate Ajar Warning Lamp"

**With all letters in capital, with no spaces or dashes etc. If all those conditions are met the build sheet should come up if available.

Is it possible his build is so new not listed? Here is how my build sheet refers to "tailgate" on MY 19:

Dampened Tailgate
Locking Tailgate
Tailgate Ajar Warning Lamp

I get the warning light also with a picture warning in the EVIC showing a pic of tailgate and words Tailgate Open

The build sheet should be available before the truck has left the factory to be shipped to the dealer. From the sounds of it he already has his truck, and if that is the case it should definitely be available.

For anyone else curious, the build sheet should be available around the time is physically going down the line being built, and the window sticker usually once the truck has left the vendor and has a ship date.

I learned one item about my 1500 Bighorn from this link, but everything else is spot on. According to the Build Sheet my 1500 is a Bighorn/Lone Star; it's not Badged as such though, which was an interesting find for me. LMBO

In Texas it is the Lonestar, all other 49 states it is the Bighorn. Exact same truck, different badges depending on location ordered or purchased from. Just because... well, you know....it"s Texas

my 2022 tailgate has come down TWICE while driving! First time, it came down onto my travel trailer switch and pushed down the front Jack. Scraped along street. Could have been a huge accident. Happened again today. Gonna report it to RAM.

fyi-checked VIN and I do not have a tailgate warning light option. WTF?
