2019 Laramie 1500-

About a year after I bought it I came up to a stop sign on my way to work, stopped, and the truck died. Lights and radio still working. Got a message to put it in park and press the brake pedal to start. Started fine but made an appointment with the dealership to have it checked out. They checked it over and found nothing.

About a year later the same thing happened. Again made an appointment and had it checked out. I was told they went over it and checked everything but no specific problem was found.

5 months later (last week) same thing. Nothing found. Of course the dealership can't replicate the problem.

So.... the factory warranty expires in a few months due to time, not mileage- 21,000 miles on truck. I have brought it in 3 times for the same issue and hasn't been "fixed" under the factory warranty. So when the warranty expires will it still be "under warranty" because it was never fixed within the original warranty period when I first reported it?

My personal thought is some module has a glitch and when it fails I don't want to pay for it if it was already failing under warranty but never replaced.

If they found no problem, more than likely once your warranty is up you will be on your own.

Look at the paperwork from when you went in to have it checked out
See if they made any notations on the subject

I never throw away any paperwork from when i go to the dealership for work

When i sold my last Ram, the new owner got 7 years of invoices along with the truck

My 2015 did that once. Believe it or not it was low on transmission fluid. Came to a stop and the truck just died. No engine codes. No nothing. Started right back up. Few day later did it again. It was just low on fluid. Topped it off. Never happened again.

The latest (and the one I haven't filed away) just says "Customer states... (the problem)" and diagnosis/repair is "Scan and check connections". Not much help but at least a record on file of the issue.

As far as maybe low transmission fluid- I was just at the dealership for an oil change a few weeks ago and was told, other than the tires were little low due to the very cold weather, everything was fine. I will keep this in mind though.

If you have the 8 speed transmission,i highly doubt they checked the fluid level in the transmission,it has no dipstick. Chrysler considers it to be a sealed for life transmission, needing no service, but ZF reconmends servicing the transmission between 50,000 and 80,000 miles or 8 years which ever comes first.

No, it will Not be under warranty because no issue was found. Unless the dealer finds something it's a non-issue and just a customer complaining about something they could not replicate.

By the way, Chrysler, engineers, ZF & Insurance companies
consider a "LIFETIME" to be 7 to 8 years

ZF timeline for the transmission is 8 years
Extended Lifetime Warranty Coverage is 7 years, i believe

Unless you personally witnessed them preforming these checks ,I would not trust that the work was actually done .

For what it's worth, I've learned my truck has weird occasional glitches that appear and go away. I don't really sweat them any more. It a 13 Cummins QC Laramie. Just this week I got a message to service tire pressure system and the left front sensor was not showing up. Next day, all back online..last summer I took a trip. When I returned home my GPS still showed I was a hundred miles from home a nd I got a message on the EVIC saying "vehicle phone requires service". Several days after that it all we t back to normal. Last year my gauge cluster was sort of flickering...was starting to look for a replacement. After about a month it just went back to normal. These trucks BCM are so sensitive to electrical systems, they do weird stuff if everything isn't perfect. Couple years ago my trans started shifting weird. Then one morning it just flat out refused to start. Had no warnings the batteries were low. Ended up having one bad cell in a year old battery. Replaced them both under warranty and truck started shifting correctly again.

Yes, you will be on your own. Sadly intermittent problems are a dilemma with many things. With it not leaving a code or a problem being easily found, dealership did what they could.
