Anyone ever use treadwright? They make remold tires.
I would never use "remold" tires as I have seen what can happen with them ... it should be illegal to sell them ... Working at Big O Tires the owner of the shop decided to partner up with TreadWright tires ... the first few months were fine but then we got a flurry of blowouts and separation accidents in a span of 2 months which one led to a customer getting killed ...

Tires to me is no joke, I don't pay for cheap tires and pay close attention to what brands have had lawsuits and pending lawsuits regarding any kind of incident/accident ...

Steer away from these tires seriously

We used to call them “retreads”.

Sadly E load tires are not 10 ply - they are 10 ply equivalent. Most are only 2-3 ply in reality.
Most do have a deeper tread.

I have settled on a set of Ironman tires. You all have been extremely helpful and I appreciate the advice!
I hope they work out for you , but Ironman tires are very hard to keep balanced and have out of round issues and seperation issues .... seen those things shred to pieces after a few thousand miles .... stay safe !!!

Yeah ... the process is a bit wacky how they do it.... some tires just get new tread cut into it while others get a whole bead to head section added, saw how they did it in a video before our big o tire decided to partner up with them and at the time I thought, "this is so not right" lol ....

Hey guys. I’m due for tires and was wondering if 10 ply is too much for my 1500, what about 4 ply? I have 20” wheels. I do some off-road driving with the occasional towing. I’m look for an all terrain tire. What do you all suggest?
There is a best tire poll here. I went bfg's and 10 ply, imo over kill for my 1500 fairly harsh ride. If you tow very heavy, then I'd consider it.

Pretty much a wash for number 4, bfg, toyo, falken

yeah but I will still go with the today's 10 ply E rated tires than the 10 ply rated ones in the past, much stronger and with less plys that is why they are "equivalent" to 10 ply thickness .... what they did was just make each of those plys thicker to give it the "equivalent" of 10 ply which makes a lot more sense and actually much safer than actual 10 plys that can separate quicker

They are lighter and ride better with fewer true plies. The plys thing was more of a bias tire thing, I don't know if they ever made true 10 ply radials.

I agree today's tires are better, but we need to get to more about load rating vs. ply equivalent.

Not a lot of people pay attention to this... but P-rated tires in 20" often start with way less tread depth than LT tires. For this reason I switched to Falken Wild Peak AT3. I pull a trailer a lot with my 1500, and at 20K miles my tires are usually shot (this includes Michelin).
The Wild Peak tires start with 18/32" tread depth. I've seen P series 20" tires start with 12/32".

I did some reading about the Ironman tires and I think I’m gonna go with KO2. Always had good luck with bfg.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the help. This may be a dumb question but can I clear a Lt295/65R20?

That's what I have on my 2015 1500 Limited.
Edit, oops, I have 295/60R20s. They are a little tight but no rubbing.

Just bought a set of Milestar Patagonia X/T. 285/70r17. This is my 2nd set of E-rated tires. They go on tomorrow. We shall see.

My Jeep Cherokee came with Passenger (P) tires (equiv 4 ply old school) - I swapped up to "LT" tires with C Load Range (~6 ply) - ride was significantly more harsh - hate to think what Load Range E (~10 ply) would have felt like. Eventually went back to "P" tires and was much happier. I would stay with what came on truck. Doubt you could justify Load Range E unless you do significant off roading and are looking for more sidewall strength - but remember if you are airing them down for off road, the stiffer sidewalls are going in the wrong direction.

A couple of years ago, I went to have the tires rotated. The manager called over and showed bulges on three tires on the truck. They were 4-ply AllTerrain type. After asking me about my driving habits, places I go, and the road conditions, he suggested 10-ply E-rated tires. I was a bit skeptical about the change in tires but I gave it a try. Could not have been happier.

As for mileage, I have a Garmin GPS. When compared to the onboard mph, it is within 1-mile difference. Not bad when considering 2016 1500 Big Horn Hemi 4X4. Last year I bought E rated 10-ply tires again and and I am still happy with performance. The mpg is still very good...18-19 city and 23-25 highway. I live in Belize and the roads are not as good as in the USA or Canada.

I'm running 315/75R16 E range Goodyear's on mine. The truck handles great, no matter how much or how little load I put on, and they do great with towing, off-road, and towing off-road :) I did air them down a bit, according to the load charts, and that produced a lot smoother ride, without sacrificing the gas mileage (it's terrible already with my 22-year-old V10)

I have Cooper Discovery AT3 XLT on my 2018. First year with them and I can tell you snow and wet performance are great. I did not have to use 4 wheel drive at all this year driving in the snow. They just gripped like anything. I use my truck to pull a 6K lb RV and got the 10ply for more stability in towing. Compared to the factory GY 20" tires, these dont spin easily on wet pavement, dont bounce around when towing and give alot better ride offroad. I did lose about 2mpg with them though on the highway due to the aggressive tread.
