2500 6.4L Hemi 4.10's 'Off-Road'
When my son bought his 2021 2500 Cummins last summer they were scarce. He found one about 1 hour away so my wife called to verify it was still there. She was pretty serious with the guy when she told him to visually verify it is there cause she wouldn't be happy if she drove an hour and it wasn't there. So me and my son drive down there and walk in and just happened to be the guy my wife talked to. My son said, I'm here to look at the 2500 Cummins (it was the only truck they had on their lot and this was a big dealership that normally was full). Guy looks at my son kind of like 'oh crap, what do i do'...lol. I told him my wife had called and you could see the relief on his face...lol. They refused to budge off the window sticker and pointed to another desk where there was a husband and wife and said they were also there to buy it so son ended up paying full price. But they were pretty good to deal with otherwise. It was Diehl CJD of Robinson PA

Most times when you put down the "$500" it is a loose contract to just hold the sale. Either side can cancel at anytime. That and going to court over it would be a flat out PITA.
I had a real contract with my dealer. Also did my most recent travel trailer with all documents signed via internet by both parties at the agreed .

Back in the late 90's I had a 1991 F250 351 that I was looking to trade up on. Found a 1997 (1 year old) F250 460 with about 15,000 on it. Talked to the saleslady and they told me their best price. I told them I'd think about it. Went and looked at a couple more the next day and decided to go back and make that deal on the 1997. By then it was evening and I told them to go an extra $500 and they ha a deal. She calls the sales manager (who was gone for the day) and ran it by him and he agreed. I told them I would go to my credit union the next morning to get the loan and be down to pick it up. Gave them a $500 check to hold it and we signed the agreement. Next morning. The next morning she calls and says we have a problem. She said her sales manager was thinking of a different truck and can't go the extra $500. I told her I didn't want the truck the. She asked 'so you're willing to lose this truck over $500?'. I asked if they were willing to lose this sale over $500? She puts me on hold and comes back and tells me 'ok, we'll go the $500'. I told her what they could do with their $500 and told them to rip up my check and send it back to me. They sent me a card a few days later asking me to call them to talk again and sent me my check back but I went and found another truck somewhere else
Thanks for sharing. Crap it happened but glad you got what you wanted at the price you wanted.

I know a few people that ordered and when vehicle came in dealer said it is xxxxx over msrp, take it or we will sell to someone else.
Yeah that’s a risk also I’m hoping we won’t have to deal with. So far it has been straight up, signatures on a PO but that disclaimer at the bottom sucks. Now, having said that I’ve been able to verify others who ordered, they did what they say.

Other than paying a little over sticker for my Spitfire Orange Built To Serve Ram the dealership has been completely satisfactory for me. They took care of a few warranty issues right away and without hassles. Even when they screwed up on a diagnosis and replaced something that wasnt the problem they immediately made it right and took care of it and was very apologetic. I had their loaner vehicle so it made it even better for me. Yeah their goal is to make money but they are a pretty small dealership which to me makes them more personable when dealing with them and it's proven to be true at least with my experience. They only have 2 regular service writers and a third that does other things around the dealership so he's in and out all day. It's only a six or eight bay garage with a separate body shop which is pretty small too. I have no problem recommending them

Congrats on the new ride!
I got my truck through Costco's Auto Buying Program. No hassle pricing and no dealerspeak; $5,000 off MSRP at Coastline Ram in San Juan Capistrano. Easy deal.

Ok, so I get it - people need to sell trucks to make money. My unfortunate experience was in So. California, IE area. I was about ready to sign on a truck with an 8K over MSRP price when I found I could order one from out of state and have a normal buying experience. Thanks to my lady for finding the dealership in NV and I ordered, but just need to wait a bit longer. Guess what….

I just got a call from the dealership here in California. Hey man, the truck you wanted is here why don’t you work with us and all the lines to make ME feel guilty. I simply said the chance to work with me was back when you were charging me 8K over, not now when the truck is on the lot. Not to mention he won’t budge on over 4K of dealer add-ons. We’ll lower your payment, anything to make it happen. Well IMHO that chance has come and gone. Then he wanted to know the dealer and I kept that to myself. Clearly, I’m not here to talk bad because I’m not disclosing the name of the So. Cal Dealership. Or share where I ordered in NV to them.

What is your experience? I really feel tired, tired of the way I was treated and the dealer in Vegas was just open and close simple. I appreciated that And the guys here just ran me into the ground. I appreciate hearing your thoughts. Did I do the right thing here? I think I did. I was polite and simply stated I will wait for mine when it comes and a few guys or gals are going to get an amazing truck at an insane price….but that's their decision as it was almost mine. ——KT
They lost the sale with their choice of business methods. None of their business where you took your business. Give them the address of a Toyota dealership. It pays to shop around.

The market is buggered right now with the supply line shortages, but $8k over MSRP is nuts. Not bagging on others, but I would never pay an ADM anyway because I can't fathom that I would need any brand new vehicle that badly - only to lose all that ADM and more value after driving it off the lot.

Oh and 90% of car salesmen are sleazeballs who will try anything to steal your money.

There are dealers here in Northern California asking 20k over MSRP. I would never even go into their store. Hopefully things will "normalize" soon and I believe these rip off dealers will eventually pay the price. When it comes to money people tend to have long memories. My advice is always to shop around, it will pay off in the end.

So I feel extremely lucky with my truck buying experience. For anyone that lives in northern Maryland or Maryland I’ll name the dealer. It was Don White’s Timonium. I factory ordered my truck and waited 11 weeks. The salesman estimated 10 to 12 weeks. I don’t know how they managed that but I had read of nightmare experiences for factory orders. Paid MSRP but got exactly what I wanted and ordered. Picked it up last month - and, believe it or not - they gave me a full tank of gas! That’s 31 gallons!

All dealers Iv ever dealt with when ordering a new vehicle you have to put down x amount of money, say 500.00 to 1000.00 down so when it comes in you will need to complete the purchase or forfeit your money that you put down and also keep them from selling it out from under you like you mentioned!

Some of these dealerships get pretty short sighted. I've had five RAM 3500s. 2011, 2012, 2016, 2018. All from the same store. When they got in an unspoken for 2022, I went in and bought for sticker. No markups, no BS. Threw in a set of mudflaps and 4 oil changes. Just like always. In the future, I might buy 5 or 6 more trucks from them!!

I actually had a decent experience locally here on the central coast of CA when I cancelled my order and placed a new one out of State. I had placed an order for a ’22 PW LVL3 with pretty much every option (other than off road package). The one in CA was $500 below MSRP and they needed a “refundable” $1000 deposit. Well, I found and ordered one for $3100 under INVOICE (an $8659 savings) out of state and was ready to assume it would be a battle to get my deposit back. I contacted the sales person and they wanted to try to keep my business. I was straight forward and told them if they could do it for $1300 above what they offered me (thats what it is going to cost to get it to CA) I would keep the order with them. Well then the sales manager got involved and needless to say, I ended up telling him to just refund my deposit. Within about an hour, it was back deposited into my account. So all in all, no complaints! Now the hurry up and wait part!

Ford lost my business because one dealership in Santa Rosa California took my keys to tell me what my trade-in would be and they wouldn’t give them back I finally had to make a scene to get my keys back. I haven’t gone into a Ford dealership since. All dealerships aren’t bad and you clearly made the right decision and dumping the bad one you first went to.
I bought my 2021 Rebel December 2020, at the employee discount for everybody special, right before all the supply chain BS. I’m glad I didn’t wait.

KoboldTaco, you did right by dropping the deal at $8,000 over MSRP. There are clearly some dealerships that will serve you better (the one in NV may well be one of them). In my area, I saw a 2022 3500 Limited for ~$3,000.00 under MSRP... if I needed a new truck I would probably go for that.

I decided years ago to avoid dishonest and pushy dealers... just not worth the headaches. And, if they start using the usual car sales cliches, my BS alert goes off and I am out of there in a big honkin' hurry.

After searching 6 months for the right 1500 my wife wanted I drove 3 hours to pick it up. When I arrived at the dealership they couldn’t find it. Long story short-it got stolen the night before. Went by another dealership and low and behold there was a truck she liked. Had to haggle on the price but it worked out.
Stand your ground with these people. You did right
