At the time I got my Ram, I had been looking for a vehicle for a couple of weeks, and frankly, I was getting frustrated (and p!ssed off at some of the dealer interactions I had).
I went into dealerships totally honest and laid it out: I am going to buy a vehicle, give me a fair price, and no BS please. At a local Ford dealership, I walked around for 20 minutes, not one salesperson made any attempt to greet me, say "screw you" or anything.
I was actually almost ready to buy a car, a new Camry. Then, Hurricane Irma went through our area, which sidelined me for a few days, and my Wife herniated a disc in her back (a total fluke thing, and it ended up disabling her, but then we had no idea how it would progress).
So, the need for the ability to carry and haul steered me in the direction of a truck. Found mine at a Honda dealership about 1-1/2 hours away.
Took a test drive and put $100 dollars for them to hold it. Brought my FIL back the next day to check it out. He said it looked great to him, and she was mine. Paperwork took damn near all day. Sucked.
Thought Rams looked tough ever since the '97s, and think the designers nailed it with the 4th gen.
The truck was a blessing, and she has been great to me.
White 2015 Ram 1500 SLT QC 5.7L 8SPD 2WD with 28,600 miles on her and 5" Raptor step bars. She now has almost 138,000 miles. Still strong. Had normal stuff - tires, brakes, serviced trans, spark plugs, coolant, pcv, belt, brake fluid, broken exhaust manifold bolts.
Oil changes according to OCI, PP 5W-20 all but PP 5W-30 last change, lubegard on last couple of changes, fram XG10060 filter, trying to get my head wrapped around trying Redline 5W-30 next go.
Another blessing is that with my Wife's disabilty, she is able to get in and out ok with the raptor 5" step bars that were on the truck. Had we purchased a car, it would have been terrible with her injury.
