so I have a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn 5.7L eTorque. I just put in new hearders (aFe twisted tub Part Number:48-32023) and a new muffler MBRP XP series High Flow replacement muffler. so my question is with me do those modifications should I put in a Cold Air Intake or just stick with OEM filters? I have there is no real benefits with oil filters over dry and read that CAI actually can make your MPG go down. I am no expert as why I am asking to stay with OEM air filter or go with CAI.

I think generally speaking the stock intake is sufficient unless you are planning to add FBO. To date, the only CAI that has documented performance gains at the track is the Vararam, with the exception of the custom-made track intake made by Moe's Performance.

a popular stock parts approach is to change the lower half of the airbox for the slightly larger ecodiesel/6.4 hemi piece
I dont have any pics handy but in sure someone does!

I did this mod. It was cheap with parts from Benny. takes about 10 mins. There's a thread regarding this that shows it does reduce restriction. I paired mine with a dryflow AEM filter.

I actually should be getting my AEM dry filter today. thank you for the tip and I didn't think about the carbon filter. I was surprised to know AEM sold to K&N. but I guess they are keeping the name AEM for the stuff they already sell it will just be from K&N now. I know know how I feel about that.

Not with our computer controlled engine.

Change filter regularly and you are good.

I have a 94 Ram 2500/5.9 diesel and was considering a cold air intake until a mechanic told me it would make the truck sound "cool". I don't want to add any additional noise. My need for "cool" died many years ago along with my need for speed.

Just curious if you swp to a 6.4 intake will the Vararam still work on that intake?
No it won't,the 6.4 intake points off to the passenger side fender Dave,so a 5.7's Vararam won't fit.If you're considering the 6.4 intake manifold swap, don't waste your money on any of the aftermarket 5.7 cold air intakes.
