Guys, I’m tire shopping for my 2500 6.7.. I’m looking for a M/T. I’ve narrowed my selection down to these three: General Grabber X3, Yokohama G003, and the infamous Toyo M/T.. Right now I’m undecided, but I’m open to other suggestions.. I’d like to hear from those of you who have ran these and your thoughts on how they perform on and off road noise, wear, traction in wet conditions, hydroplaning etc.. I live in Florida so wet handling will be a deciding factor.. I’m leaning towards the Grabbers for the price point and the great things I’ve heard..

Yokohama Geolandar G003 have some impressive reviews as well.. supposedly very quiet for a M/T, great wear and great wet traction as well..

the Toyos are an industry standard when it comes to a MT.. but i feel that the Yokohama’s are a ‘newer’ version lol..

Anyway it’d be great to hear from ya and have a discussion.. let me know your thoughts and experiences

I've got cooper st maxx tires on my 1500 and I had them for about 40k miles on my 4runner before my ram and I loved them. On the 4runner I had them in northern maine during winter for 20k miles and then the last 20k miles in the west palm beach area. They did great in all weather types from icy roads, deep snow on the roads and heavy rain on the interstate I was still confident in them!
My only complaint is that they take some playing with PSI, if you run them at max sidewall pressure the tires tend to cup. on my 4runner I ran them E rated at max PSI and thats where I got the cupping. On my current ram Im running a D range tire at 32 PSI and so far no problems but they've only been on for 2.5k miles so far.
I'm not a tire expert but I feel like the straight longitudinal channels around the circumference of the tire really help with the wet road performance, esp in heavy rain and standing water like south FL is so prone to

Thanks for that.. yeah i considered the STT Pro.. but I’ve heard that they howl quite a bit.. unfortunately, they don’t make the MAXX in the sizes I’m looking at.. I’ve heard other good things about the Maxx’s..

If I didn't get the Nitto Ridge Grapplers I would of gone with the STT Pros, the howl is not bad, they sound just like the Ridge Grapplers to me .... Have you considered the Nitto Ridge Grapplers or the Nitto Trail Grapplers?

I have had Toyo MTs and I love those tires, I have a fear of driving in the rain because of a prior accident in the rain and TOYOs are actually pretty good in the rain, not the best but they will do their job ... you can however lose control of the rear end in the rain especially from a dead stop going uphill with them same thing with my Ridge Grapplers right now that I have on my truck ...

The noise of the TOYO MTs is not something that bothers me, I am used to having mud boggers on older trucks so none of the tires right now even come close to road noise that would bother me ....

The wear on the TOYOs is also something that is actually quite good, on a work truck that I had the TOYO MTs I got a good 65k from them and they still had plenty of tread .... my Ridge Grapplers right now have 20k on them already and they still look good, almost new actually so I am sure I will get at least 50k out of them and the TOYO MTs if you take care of them, rotate them every 3k miles will do the same as long as you are not tearing them up yourself ...

Just my .02

I had the ridge grapplers.. meh.. they weren’t great in the mud.. they also had severe cracking and only got 30k out of them on my Tacoma.. they also got considerably louder but that was due to some uneven wear and cupping.. I would like to try something a little different.. the Grabber X3’s almost look like a hybrid (least aggressive)

The Trail grapplers are an option if the price is right.. but I’d get the Toyos first all things being equal lol..

Wow really? I can’t believe that that STT Pros would sound anything like the ridge grapplers.. I’ve heard they are loud

Well in the mud I have no experience with them but looks like you did and that would probably explain why you only got 30k out of them and why the started cracking

Yeah I was even shocked at how similar in noise they both were , but again I don't mind the road noise tires make so to me what sounds like nothing could be a lot for others ... but I honestly wouldn't hesitate to get the STT Pros ...

I was actually heavily considering these when I was going to get my truck lifted and getting wheels and tires and I was quickly told to stay away from them. Hard to balance, out of round and no traction on road ...

Do you have them on your truck Stryker ? If so, how do you like them ?

On my 2006 CTD I ran Cooper ST (E rated 10 ply) never noticed any type of road noise from them but as they say not all roads are the same...

I had the General Grabber X3s on my last truck (1500) and they were doing great for wear and the noise level was low as well.
Very happy with them in everything But rain, in the rain like when it first started raining they offer low traction and if floored at 60 mph it would break the rear tires loose, only complaint.

Looks like you're running a diesel so I recommend the Toyo's. The Toyo's wear better on my diesel 2500 and 3500 trucks then anything else I've tried over the years. Between the weight and torque of todays trucks the Toyo's cost me less per mile than any other tire.

I've got the Firestone Destination XT's on my dually and love them. They have meat on the tires, have lasted 40k miles so far. Living in TN, they have been great in all the bipolar weather that we experience here...all 4 seasons within a week and sometimes day. My biggest recommendation is set the PSI of the tires to the weight of the truck (Firestone has an online chart). For example, the dealerships or tire centers will almost always put them to max tire pressure whereas my back tires are recommended to be at 36 PSI and not 80 PSI.

Strong sidewalls on the Toyos. I've had a set of Toyo MT's in the past. They were overkill for SoCal for me. I've been running their AT series for years now. The installers at Discount said they are the easiest offroad tires to balance out of all brands. The BFG's give them problems. "Good tires but they have heavy spots."

I'm running Yokohama Geolandars on my 2017 2500 and I love them. They grip really well and aren't as loud as some of the other mud tires I've heard. When I wear these out, I'll probably replace them with the same.

I’ve found Nitto’s are great in adverse conditions but don’t last long at all on 3/4 ton or larger. I’ll pass on Goodyear mud tires and Michelins last a long time but get harder as the tread wears.
I’ve had good luck with Firestone but great luck with Mickey Thompson Baja and Baja Boss. Friends have Toyo and had good luck.
I personally prefer Mickey’s MT for all around snow, ice, rain but they’re not as quiet as Nitto’s or Goodyear Duratrac’s.

Hey Chris I have had excellent luck with Firestone Mt2 and Cooper STT pro both made in USA. Rotate every other oil change and last over 50k
