Came in 15 place in the gm study patch test. See first page of oil filter thread and see the patch = dirty engine.

Why would nascar even care about filtration? Those engines last one race, three at the most for poor teams. All they care about is flow.

I would think sponsorship means more about what filters the Nascar boys are using then actual filtering ability.Where their money comes from is probably the biggest reason for their filter choice, lol

Not if this is correct... In fact oddly wix xp is the only filter to not level out with efficiency even with large particles. Do some research guys. We all want to know which ones are good, follow the science.

1 micron to um = 1 um

So you can substitute micron when you see um, since most of us understand Microns. For every 10 particles 50 microns size, wix xp lets one though, and it is the only filter tested to do that.

Good grief...wix starts off crummy and only gets worse. Glad I'm stocked up with RP filters!

The other "Real" question is how xp performs throughout an interval as opposed to cellulose filters. Because paper filter simply loose their filtering ability with heat cycles, and likely are in bypass the entire time. I would love to see if someone tests used filters this way compared to spun microglass. But I see no reason to use wix xp unless you prefer to have sand size particles running around your engine. Enough teasers, read the oil filter thread for more info guys, many guys contributed over there for years.

Occasionally BITOG comes though, now we all see why they hate wix xp so much. Not that they "like" RP, but at least they acknowledged the weaknesses of wix xp.

Glad I still pop into these threads from time to time. While I normally use RP and never really see Wix around here I would've still been under the impression it was one of the better filters

Teaser from oil filter thread, this is a patch from the filter that came in first place versus the filter that came in last place. The second patch denotes the contamination that made it through the filter. Top picture is royal purple media nearly perfect filtration, the second filter was ac delco paper. Then later in the oil filter thread you have some professionally tested oil filters for efficiency, and it is a huge difference from the top filters to the bottom "wix xp" filters. When it comes to oil filters feelings should not have a part of the conversation, just look at the facts. There is no reason to buy less efficient filters, your hemi deserves better. This just scratches the surface, that thread is loaded with info. Wix XP is simply one of the worst filters made, the tests prove this. The worst filter in both tests is ac delco, well wix xp is just as bad, look at how much contamination gets through that thing...

Oil filter patch photos bring back bad flashback memories of many a Saturday squeezin' oil samples in the garage. Usually with a beer.

WIX - good enough for NASCAR good enough for me
NASCAR folks are the last one I would take a recommendation from, they chose nearly all their parts by virtue of who provides them for free, with advertising of course. Certainly, does not promulgate using the 'best'.

It's my understanding that the NAPA Gold filters are the Wix XP in a different wrapper...

This is an opinion only. What Oil filter are you using in your Ram 1500? I have always stayed away from FRAM. Just wondering what most use? There are 10s of choices. just want to see what most use.
Napa Gold 7060. Made by Wix. But, I’ve used with confidence the AC48 and Purolator Plus. Each one is rated at accommodate the extended up to 10k miles Chrysler allows. I change primarily at 5k+/-, and have gone to 9k once on a coast to coast and border to border trip. Did labs and still had about 35% of additive package left in Shell Rotella gas truck 5w20 with no undue wear noted on vehicle with 90k miles.

So the NAPA Gold is a step down in filtration?
