So I was very unhappy with the Firestones after two winters and am currently at the tire shop getting some cooper tires. They removed my tires and found this inside one of themPXL_20220325_142501403.jpg
Anyone know what this is/was. Had to come from initial build in factory.

Almost looks like a toggle switch.

I'll wager a guess it broke off a machine on the tire mounting line.

Thanks for some replies, the metal rod has a spring inside the larger piece. Whatever it is it got beat up pretty good for 20,000 miles. The wheel has powder coat chipping on the inside, but just cosmetic damage. Never heard anything unusual, but the diesel is pretty loud.

Good thing you got rid of those nasty Firestones. At about the same milage as you mine had tread but the wet weather traction was downright dangerous.
