It doesn't matter how much a person makes .The more you make the more you spend and it's so hard to save.
I’ve been on both sides of that spectrum, and it all comes down to dedication and decisions.

Do you really need that latte’ ? Sure, why not… you’ve worked hard for it. Keep in mind that the latte’ with tip is costing you $5 each time. Again, big deal you earned it, you deserve it. At the end a year that’s @ $1200. More of an impact if your making $20k vs. $200k, but it’s still $1200, and that’s where choices come into play. Over a few years, that’s several thousands, and even at a modest savings return or investment could be a nice big chunk saved up, and for an emergency.

just read last night that the average family doesn’t have at least $400 set aside for emergencies. That’s scary.

You get the idea :waytogo:

We all do weird stuff at some point. I traded my '07 Bee in for our son, he got a '21 Charger GT. The whole time at the dealership my wife was sending me links to trucks. She knows I've always had a thing for Cummins, but she also knows I'd never buy myself a brand new vehicle (we bought her Citadel new, all of our other vehicles have been used). Her Citadel was starting to give us issues (a/c and radio). Anyway, when we (our son and I) got back from the dealership, she talked me into calling the Ram place about a truck. Needless to say I bought 2 vehicles that day. Remember I would never buy a brand new truck for myself, much less a $70k one....so she tricked me. Granted they gave us $25k for the Citadel ('15 with like 45k miles), plus other discounts and my Lockheed 1% below dealer invoice....so that $70k (68k and some change) truck was only $40k. So now the '09 is my daily to work/toy.

I read this thread and all I can say is happy to see a guy marrying a woman that makes more or is at least a financial equal. I know I'd feel less enslaved that way knowing if I want out it won't cost everything I own and then some. Too many guys work hard and end up sleeping on friends couches paying support while their ex lives in the house he paid for to buy his freedom back.

If this doesn’t belong here, move or delete it.

Was driving around with my girlfriend soon to be fiancé (shhhh) and we looking for a new Jeep Grand Cherokee or Jeep Wrangler for her. We came across Expressway Ram in Evansville Indiana. After searching some of the new 2022 trucks we went to a couple other lots that they have, it’s a big dealer ship. We were looking around and I saw this beast. $68,000 she likes the truck. She said I would buy this for you if you want. I was like wow!!!!! We are actually looking for a house then a truck later.

It was a Ram 2022 Laramie Night Edition.
Does she have a sister?

Regards,
Dusty

If she can pay for it in cash then keep her. If she is talking payments run like hell, you will be in debt forever and your life will be full of stress. You will wind up divorced in the end. Nice thought of her but really.....I have seen it over and over and over, get into debt, stress, fight and divorce. But then I am 66 and have seen a few things and done a few things.

Good reason to marry her.

One good reason I married my wife is her dad was high up in MoPar and got a discount better than the dealer buys for.

When I told a neighbor about my 20 year old washing machine. He said ,wow! He said his wife(him) has bought almost that many washers and dryers in that time. And furniture. They eventually lost everything. Marriage takes two responsible adults working toward a common reasonable goal.Wish I could have found a responsible woman....now I'm too old for the young ones...and too young for the old ones. And now Im just a s.o of luck.lol

House really , no doubt your thinking of an adequate garage space for a big clumsy truck, think wide!! it is the size that matters

That's about the same as mine except color, mine's black metallic ($73K sticker), love (almost - don't look at my hatred for UConnect and Android Auto posts LOLOL) everything about it.

However and Whatever your choices are and become ... I wish you and her well.

Regardless of house or vehicle first ... divorce is now higher than making a marriage work (yes, it's work!) till you've got to pick out caskets and tombstones.

You'll both make mistakes throughout your lives together, both before and after marriage ... and the partner you pick that stays and works out ways to help make those mistakes into solutions will let you think you hit the partner lottery.

Wish you the best outcomes in all you both do.

Before you plunge into a new $68k truck there are other small items that might require a change in priorities. Such as a baby bed.
