I’m new here. I was told today my 2015 3500 with 6.7 has a bad cat. Cost to replace 1700 dollars. Very much considering delete with raceme tuner and complete exhaust replace from flex pipe back. Any recommendations.

I like my truck deleted, which was done nearly 11 years ago. Having said that, getting the hardware to delete a diesel is getting difficult to come by thanks to the EPA. I wouldn't recommend flex pipe as a replacement for solid exhaust pipe for safety reasons. I think aftermarket cats can be had for about $800 or so, and a reliable muffler shop could install it for not to much money. I would advise not idling an emissions compliant diesel very much because they don't do well from that.

I’ll tell ya right now, the engineer that came up with egr, should be hung by the short and curly’s! EGR is bad, period.

Yes because going back to the zero emissions regulation days would be much better, right?

There are other ways to accomplish the same thing EGR does but unfortunately it's a mandated technology.
If that's a picture of the LA basin, that's had air pollution problems since the 1500's. Unfortunately unlike the rest of the world that's concerned about CO2 pollution, the EPA has a fixation on NOx. CO2 doesn't break down NOx does in about a day.

Plants use CO2 and thus give off O2, which we all need.

EGR, is detrimental to any engine. Dump the egr, keep the rest. I too like to breathe clean air.

That pic of LA, doesn’t tell the whole story. LA is a bowl, like the Central Valley in Commiefornia. Hardly any air movement happens as compared to say the coastal region or the plains in the central US. I’ve always thought that if some mountains were erased in the Central Valley, down by Bakersfield, the air would have a much easier time of escaping. Hell, when the 4th of July is celebrated, that place looks like Tule Fog.

One other thing. Since a lot of people look down at “deleting” and gripe about emissions, I have the answer for that. Commiefornia has its own “special blend of fuels” to help cut down emissions and due to that fact, fuel is considerably higher that the rest of the nation. So I say that the other 49 States use the same fuel. It’s so damned good for the environment, everybody should use it. However, don’t ***** when your fuel mileage drops cause Commiefornia fuel doesn’t have the same bang for the buck as the other states.

So do you know where the emissions vs mpg are? At some point the amount of fuel consumption of a choked up truck vs a deleted truck will be comparable just from fuel consumption? No one has ever answered that question. Volkswagen is a prime example yes they lied on their emissions but were achieving 40+mpg that says a lot. Now running the right emissions down to what 20-25mpg? I'm not saying roll some coal but at some point we're actually producing more pollutants vs saving.

Dinky, I don't know where you got your VW mileage numbers because they were getting up into 60+ mpg with the diesel cars in Europe. After they were busted, the cars went down to mid to upper 20 mpg. When my Cummins was stock it made 11.4 - 14.0 mpg highway empty and after the delete via H&S MiniMaxx it jumped to 20-23+ on the same roads at 75mph. Sorry to say the Mini contributed to head gasket failure and truck is re-tuned with EZlynk (safer tow tune) and now gets 18-19 highway mpg.

I was helping his argument lol... I know vw was getting crazy numbers. Epa should of been asking them how to get all diesel vehicles the same way. My 2022 gets 14-16 in town 20-22 freeway and 12-13 towing. No delete.
