There's multiple questions there, but I hope the majority answered buy the 6.4 and if not there buy another manufacturer. The guys I know that tried the ecoboost weren't very pleased in the long run
I'd say they are targeting their HD gas engine customers, guess they are fishing to see what folks would do. I'm sure they are not interested in losing a buyer over the number of cylinders.

I've read recently that the MPG caps are going to tighten after having a slight vacation. So manufacturers are going to be pressed even harder to up their fleet MPG numbers. It could be that the V8s in any brand may be going away.

I just bought a 2021 ram 3500 with a 6.4. Would be awhile before I think about another truck. I'm still trying to figure out how a 6 cylinder with turbo can do as good as a 6.4 v8. Sure as hell wouldn't buy the 1st gen. Will be watching for customer feedback to see if it works as advertised.

( Twin Turbo ) like it matters..

“there is no replacement for displacement”

Why can’t they make an inline 8 ?

Why does it feel like we’re the victims here ?

In 2026 all gas vehicles sold must have a 40mpg average.
Death of the V8 is imminent, get one while you still can.
If the fuel refineries gave us real fuel not some watered down corn juice turbos are not going to fare well with under 92 or 91

Camshaft would be too long for balancing and most likely break. At least that's what happened to Packard. I think it was Packard that built straight right cyl engines.

Seems like folks are forgetting that the Cummins is an in-line six with turbo.

And there's reason for that - it started out as a tractor engine for Consolidated Diesel Corporation, a joint venture between Cummins and J.I. Case. The inline 6 is the strongest architecture lower end engine there is. You can blast all sorts of torque through it.

Dodge shoe-horned it into the old Ram truck. Cummins never did develop specifically for automotive, except for the disastrous partnership with Nissan after Fiat bought Chrysler out of bankruptcy. I worked there at this time.

Honestly the technology hasn’t advanced in 83 years?
look at the cylinder size and the technology that exist now with camshafts and VVT multiple camshaft technology.

Why not twin crankshafts two drivelines ?

What’s that famous saying?

If you consider how much technology in electric vehicles and the price of the materials for replacement batteries along with regular maintenance of tires brakes and suspension parts and components are we going to lease vehicles in the future or own them ?

5.7 Hemi Crew Cab,
I think gas engines in hd trucks do serve a purpose. They are great for those that haul those lance bed campers or anyone who will normally be hauling allot of bed weight only.
I just ordered a 2500 last week. I didn’t want diesel. Although it’s going to be a tow vehicle it’s also going to be a daily driver and I saw no need to have a diesel to run to the store or other short trips around town. And then there’s that $10K extra cost!

I’m really ignorant but when I did the survey, they didn’t talk about towing capacity with the different motors. I was interested in the motor that is a hybrid when they said it could be filled with gasoline for long trips and apparently uses an electric portion for in town. My 2500 HD hates in town driving
