I picked up a 2022 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 this weekend
I've been using my Power Wagon for work but I needed something with a little more towing capability

I just had 5 35/12.5 x R17E Duratrac tires installed on my Power Wagon a couple of months ago
I have a spare set of PW rims and am thinking about running the Duratracs on the new truck
I like the PW rims much more than the polished aluminum plain Jane rims that came on the new truck

Gotta sell the PW and don't want to sell it with brand new tires if I can help it
Seems like everyone but me can sell a vehicle for much more than it's actually worth right now.......

For now, the most I will be towing at a time is around 11,000 pounds

You'll want to test fit the PW rims on your new truck to make sure they'll fit, I think HD trucks run 18" rims now. If the Duratracs are Load Range E they should work for your new truck if the rims fit.

The weight of the Cummins will eat the duratrac. They are too soft of material and the out edge will wear worse than on a PW. This is what I experienced on a 18 CTD.

I hadn't thought of that, thanks! I guess the reason this new truck brakes much better than our old 2016 did could be due to bigger brakes!

Good to know. These are Load Range E, but maybe they would only be good in winter due to the weight of the truck.

^ Bingo. Duratracs are great tires for a lighter vehicle but I have not had good luck with them on a heavy HD diesel truck. They can be squirmy and wear quickly. They work great on the wife's jeep though.

My uncle is a logger and farmer and bought the stock Duratracs from my my PW to run on his F350 superduty diesel.
Maybe Ford's Powerstroke weighs less than a Cummins.
But he pulls trailers full of firewood, a skidsteer, fuel tanks ect. all the time and hasn't complained about them yet...

There are 2 different compounds (2 models) of duratracs. One is the snowflake/severe weather tire that is a softer compound. They wear quicker. The other is non severe labeled and has a harder compound. I found both equally good in the snow…the harder compound is non studdable. Wear will depend which model you have

Normally I almost always recommend the Duratrac's. But for that kind of weight and if you're going to be doing a lot of towing, as mentioned above, I would pass on them as they will wear out far to fast to make them worth the extra expense considering how often you'll have to replace them.

I have the harder compound ones on my Power Wagon.
I'm still thinking about trying them on the Cummins because I already own them and I don't want to sell the PW with brand new tires.....seems like a fast way to lose $2k!

Check the load rating on your axles you will have to Match that for a tire shop to work on them. I just ran into that on my 3500 all snowflake tires on a 17in wheel don't meet load requirements for a 3500. 2500 is little bit lower load rating but all terrains snow flake are 3195lbs running 35x12.5r17.
