So I ordered then took delivery of my 2021 Ram 3500 one year ago. When I ordered it I told myself I don’t need the LED head and driving lights. All was good until I road in a truck with them.

So I ordered OEM LED head and driving lights last week and the dealer got them in a week to my surprise.

Then Facebook popped up with “you may like this”, a new take off ‘22 Laramie grill. Sure enough I did so I got it.

Picked up my truck from the dealer this afternoon and I really like how it looks now. I’m old school and like a little chrome.

I agree,nice upgrade!
My wife's ride is a 2018 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk that is a super nice rig with the exception of the halogen lights.
I drive it to work occasionally (3rd shift) cause it gets about 10 mpgs better than my truck but frankly after having LEDs on both my 1500 Laramie and now on my PW I feel like I'm driving with my sunglasses on.
I actually had the dealership check the headlight alignment on it when it was in for an oil change but it was correct.
They offered to upgrade the halogen bulbs to LEDs ( for about $400) but since she's planning on trading it off soon I declined.
Her next one WILL have the LED headlights though...

Anybody ever drive in the rain, fog, snow, and other conditions? LEDs are a bright white light that are ineffective and reflective, that's why off-road lights are yellow. Halogen give a yellow hue. I drive with halogen only. If you can't see at night, don't drive at night. I'm a trucker that drives at night and have personal experiences with LEDs in rigs.

You are correct. They will still put good light out but lost quickly or too bright in dense fog. Amber fogs help and take over in that situation and Now you get best of both worlds.

Middle of the night, fog, freezing rain and massive snow storms... I've driven through it all in 18 years of 3rd shift in rural Iowa.
I'll still take the LEDs over Halogens.
In fact in all my previous trucks/jeeps I've always added an LED lightbar purely to be able to get to work in nasty conditions....
After getting a truck with LEDs (and LED foglights) I've never bothered to get a lightbar.
Lowbeams are recommended for bad snow or fog anyway and those LED fogs help a ton!

I agree. I'm in Iowa too, and have been in the same garbage weather this state gives us and I will take LED's all the time. When I have to be in our cheap work trucks at night with halogen bulbs, I can barely see even with the high beams on!!! Very dangerous in my opinion.

I hated my halogen lights. Put in LEDs and it's amazing how much better they are. Also swapped the fog lights with LEDs, but got switchbacks. They toggle between white & yellow. Handy for those foggy times.

I have a 2020 1500 with the standard halogens, and I am looking for more light.

Can you just change out the bulbs, tell us about how to convert, and what
size LED to use would be helpful.

I too make my living driving semi. When our company upgraded our fleet from 2012 Freightliners to 2021 Freightliners the only positive things people had to say about the new trucks was 1.the ride is much better than the old ones. 2. They don't stink(yet). 3. The LED head and fog lights are phenomenal to see with compared to the old halogen setup, With 1 caveat: In sleet and wet snow ice builds up on the new ones way quicker than the old due to the lack of heat on the lenses. I do agree with you that fog lights should be yellow.

For me I purchased new OEM lights and had the dealer swap them out. They said it took about an hour for the swap, it was reprogramming the truck that took more time.

Call me ignorant on the issue but are
LED’s just a plug in or do they have to be programmed in? Also, I wonder if my ‘21 Tradesman 2500 is wired for fog lights?

SKS, tell us your cost for the changeover. The option for front and rear LED's is
over $850. on a new one.
