Just spoke about this in the tire thread. I don;t know too much about the 2500, but steering should be no different in the 1500. I think there is zero issues with the steering feel on all the rams I have driven , both DS and DT. My guess is you may be over-inflated in the front, That is going to give you all the slop feel you are talking about.

Huge difference - rack & pinion vs steering box and associated linkage

Have you been to the dealer to get their opinion? they will do what they can to get it covered under warranty.
well cross winds will be side to side motion i would say track bar or sway bar. If it is all around problems i would start with the cheapest upgrade and go from there.
steering damper would probably be the cheapest then maybe upgrade the sway bar. i know you truck only has 3000 miles but there is a lot of faulty parts running around as material and labor are short.
Dealers are no help. ""Everything is in spec""

I'am going to do the chalk test as soon as the weather here in Delaware clears. Right now, they are inflated to the door sticker,,60lbs. Max on the tire is 80lbs.

60psi is pretty high for being unloaded. I’m at 55 front and 52 rear with heavy ATs and my steering still wanders. When I went down to 50f, 45r was when it started to ride straighter. A lot of people do 45f,40r even with their ATs or MTs.

Completely different steering. Half tons have rack and pinion and are all electric.

I'am playing with lower PSI now. Lowered the front to 55, the rear to 60. I might lower again another 5 PSI. I'll be towing my travel trailer (6000lb) this weekend and see how that goes. Truck and TT will be fully loaded this trip. I'll post next week when I get back. 90 mile trip on back roads to Cape May N.J.

Rear tire pressure can be much less than the front when the truck is unloaded, as the front axle has more weight on it. I usually run about 8psi less (or even more) in the back tires when unloaded. Been running about 58 in the front and 48-50 in the back on my power wagon with 35’s.

Wandering in the lane. Constant jerky corrections, especially in a crosswind.
Adaptive Steering/Lane Keep if you have it, will nudge you over to stay on your side of the road and what not. I don't know if this is playing into your wandering or corrections that you have to make. Should be able to turn it off. My wife's Jeep has it, it gets turned off along with the engine stop nonsense.
