What would you tell a guy who is considering a RAM for his next and first full size truck, that is negative about RAM? I pretty much know all the Pros...which is why i've put RAM at the top of my list....my second choice is a Toyota Tundra (I'm in a 2nd Gen Tacoma now). I'd really like to know what kind of problems to expect that is pretty typical with Ram trucks. I really love the looks of the Rebel, but i dig the the Laramie with the Night package....those would be my 2 choices. I'm open to hear about engine choices....I am primarily a city driver, this would be my daily driver.but intend to do some road trips with the family. I do not tow anything...not a boat guy....or a camper guy...I go old school...lol

Hmm, lets see. I love my 2021 Limited Night Edition. Looks fantastic, very attractive interior, ride comfort is second to none. I haven't had any issues with mine, but if I had to complain about something, I wish there was a way to only have the passenger side mirror tilt when in reverse. I also would like the mirrors to fold when I put my truck into park. One other thing is I would like to be able to change the temperature at which the seat heat/ventilation and steering wheel heat come on. All pretty minor annoyances in the end. I'm sure people who have experienced the rear window cracks/leaking or fueling issues might have a more negative opinion about their Ram trucks.

Better speakers in the "Alpine" system. The speakers are generic Chinese junk. Don't pay the extra $800-ish for the Alpine system thinking you are getting something great. I also don't like the 12" display. It's information overload and distracting. Seems like it will been an electrical nightmare down the road.

Oh boy, here we go again! There are at least two other threads covering this exact topic. And a couple members that will say if you don't like something about the ram, you shouldn't buy it at all. No matter how trivial the dislike is. A couple things that jump out to me after reading many of the posts on this and other forums: 1. the MDS on the Hemi, you either barely notice it's there or you absolutely hate every single moment it's in operation. 2. The EcoDiesel is a ticking time bomb. Or it's absolutely wonderful with an aftermarket tune. For the vast majority of them run just fine 4 thousands and thousands of miles as long as you don't use it mainly for short City trips.

Just by adding two Infinity 6X9s it completely changed the sound. I think it's a bit of bait-and-switch with the "Alpine" upgrade....but not use actual Alpine speakers. Not that Alpine are superb, but they are certainly better than the cheap Chinese generic crap that comes in the "Alpine" upgrade.

I've had a '22 1500 Laramie with 5.7 hemi etorque for a week and the one thing that really annoys me is there is no setting to disable the 3 loud honks if the key fob exits the vehicle with it still running. I don't need my truck to honk at me when I step out to grab my mail from the box or shut my gate.

As far as the etorque.... it's annoying at stop signs or in traffic when you're not coming to a complete stop for an extended time. The video I watched about it made it seems like the on and off was flawless but there is a very noticable lurch. You can easily turn it off with a button but the setting resets when you turn off the vehicle.

The last thing I've had an issue with is my android auto frequently disconnecting but I believe I found a solution today after noticing it happening in the same parts of a city I drive through. My android phone had Bluetooth scanning on (a setting in Settings -> Location ) and disabling it seems to have fixed it. Obviously not a ram issue....I believe my phone was trying to handshake a pair to random Bluetooth signals.

There are a lot of things I love about the truck so far, but these are my 'gripes.'

The stupid traction control. Even with tow/haul on if you try to drift it in the snow it activates. So frustrating. Why we cannot completely disabled it is beyond me. Even with the Nanny kill switch you have to shut off the truck to enable abs again on the 1500 but not the 2500. Wth!

I'm extremely happy with my loaded 21 Limited Longhorn. No issues with the truck so far. 2 Minor software recalls but only other times in shop was for oil changes. Only thing I'm unhappy with are the sucky GPS map updates. Seems like they are way behind the available updates for other GPS brands.

So far I'm super pleased with my 21 Laramie Sport since last August, almost fully loaded. Only minor thing I don't like is the ability to lower the dashboard light brightness from full bright to just under full- once it clicks it goes much dimmer than I would like. Other semi-minor problem is the how they over-tighten the oil filter from the factory (get a vice-grip oil filter wrench @ Harbor Freight, you'll have a hard time otherwise), plus the oil filter mount position that drips all over your hands while changing oil (you can fix with a DIY plastic jug cut-out, no more oiled hands).

Your horn honks when you exit the vehicle with the fob, engine running? None of ours have done that (2020 Laramie, 2020 Limited, 2021 Limited). Maybe that's another thing they changed for 2022, but I'm surprised there isn't a setting in Uconnect to disable that.

I do know they redesigned the stop/start for 2022 so that the engine shuts off before coming to a complete stop. That would annoy me. Actually, the stop/start on my 2021 annoys me even though it waits until the truck is stopped before the engine shuts off. I installed an autostop eliminator and turned it off for good. Best $99 I've spent on this truck.

Yeah there is a guy on YouTube that says it was added in 2022 and he shows two options for bypass...either pulling the fuse for the horn or doing a bypass relay. Neither I'm particularly interested in doing. I've searched the uconnect settings extensively and other than a horn beep when the vehicle is locked there are no other related settings.

My decision to go with a 2021 instead of ordering a 2022 looks better every time I read about something that was changed for 2022. I may not have gotten Uconnect5 but I'm very happy with my Uconnect4 system. Hopefully someone comes up with a way to turn off the horn honks using the Tazer DT or alphaOBD tools.

I think the quality of the alpine speakers are just fine.. maybe years of construction and loss of certain frequencies helps or as long as sound come out i am fine lol.

Lol yeah the horn honk thing sucks, I told my wife about that since we missed it by a year and the look she gave me was a classic. I can't tell you how many times I leave the truck running with her (or our daughter or dog or any combination) in it while I run in somewhere quick, but I can tell you that neither turning the truck off or having it honk every time I get out of it to draw attention to her are feasible options, to put it mildly.

Yes, they are "fine". There is certainly nothing wrong with them. However, once you replace them you will realize just how "meh..." they are. I was disappointed to discover that my "Alpine" system does not have Alpine speakers. It's bait-and-switch to me. Replacing the speakers is a relatively inexpensive mod that can be done in your driveway and makes a real, tangible, significant improvement.

The sound system was designed by Alpine. But the components are made by the lowest bidder that meets specifications.
