I get both sides of the discussion here, but I've actually read or watched that more than once; that many Ford mechanics/builders prefer the 5.0 for longevity/durability reasons. The EB has some flaws, one of them being (IIRC) stretched timing chains?. Not even sure anymore, but recently the 5.0 also had some problems like in 2018 or 2019 so who really knows.

All I know is that I'm less than impressed with my hemi in both quality and power output. I teased @tidefan1967 in this very thread as well but I'll be the first to admit he might have made the wise decision, is the 3.5 really that worse (durability) than the hemi? I have my doubts.

The ecoboost has been improved, I would avoid the earliest ones but the current gen seems solid. I wouldn't have any more reservations about a new one (so known maintenance history) then a hemi or *current* 5.0....but this is the last year before the Coyote gets Ford's version MDS, though, so that's a new unknown introduced into the equation.

Personally, I think we're seeing the end of the Golden Age of Automobiles as emissions standards and CAFE tighten.

Let's let him have the final word, poor little fellow can't figure out that 'best' is subjective and what's 'best' for one person's needs may not be 'best' for someone else. Like why anyone would pick a V6 when a hemi was available...
1) Didn't want the dreaded 5.7 Hemi tick
2) Never tow, rarely haul anything over 500 lbs
3) Significantly better MPG than the 5.7
4) Got a screaming, and I mean SCREAMING deal on my 2019 RAM. Drive out <$25K!

This "poor little fellow" is laughing al the way to the bank. Enjoy your 5.7 gas hog when unleaded gets to $5 a gallon!

You know you're getting very boring to listen to don't you.Why don't you give it up.The OP bought himself a new to him truck, and appears to like it,and all you can do is bash his purchase. Why don't you find a poll by Chrysler tech's on how much they like the 3.6 you have:Big Laugh:
Why don't you go back to campaigning for catch cans?

Funny thing is, during this discussion, I got PM's from other posters telling me to just ignore the fool known as Wild one. Apparently you have a long running reputation for acting stupid here. :Big Laugh:

Well tidefan, how’s that ecoboost ? Any issues yet ? Having fun with it ? Any dislikes ? Good to see you’re still participating here .

So good so far. I did buy a Pedal Commander for it because the throttle was a little laggy, definitely not as good as the Ram that’s for sure. I will say that if it’s a little wet out it’s very hard to take off without spinning the tires a bit. I’m not a fan of Ford’s locking rear differential, I do miss that real limited slip rearend that the Ram has. Other than that I haven’t had any problems other than a flat tire.

Good to hear. Maybe different tires will help in the wet weather.

Believe it or not I bought 3 five gallon jugs of PUP 5W30 off of Amazon a couple weeks ago, Couldn’t beat the price with the rebate they were offering.
I know you follow the oil thread, so I think you’ll be fine, I’ll just say, if it’s good enough for my hemi it should work just as well in yours. Lol.

I sold my 2019 3.5 Platinum F150 to buy my 2022 Ram Laramie. The F150 was a nice truck, even being a Platinum, the interior on my RAM is nicer. The 3.5EB engine has issues with the cam phasers, there are still current recalls but the replacement parts are exactly the same as the old parts, so if you get the noise, and have it fixed, it will come back.
Also, the 10 speed transmission in F150's has some issues, so much so that I believe there is now a class action lawsuit. I can say without question that the ZF 8 speed in the RAMs is a lot better than the F150 transmission.

I agree the Ram rides better and has a much better interior. The ZF 8spd auto is a much better shifting transmission than Fords 10spd auto for sure. It definitely has some quirky shifting to it and even Sport mode I think it holds the gears too long. The thing I like about it the most is the low end torque, it’s a blast for sure!

My Ram feels way torquier, but my Ram is also an e-torque with 3.92 gears.

My 2017 and 2021 Rams both had the Hemi and 3.92s but this 3.5 Ecoboost is way faster off the line. I do miss the sound of the Hemi tho; nobody does a factory exhaust better than Ram.

Congrats. I’m jealous. I traded my F150 for my current Ram. As soon as the wife quits yelling I’m going back to a ford.

Young guy next to me at Patrick AFB campground told me yesterday he recently ordered an F250 with about everything you can imagine. $93,000!
Yeah,.....they get really pricey real fast!! (What doesn't these days, though??)
Same with the Ram trucks as well. Especially the Ram 2500 trucks.
