Found out that the LED headlights do not put any real heat out to keep the lenses defrosted. Had the wet clingy snow last night and about 1/2 of caked on snow. I should have remember this from when I had to go with heated headlamps on the Jeep. Monday I get to take them out and exchange them for high beams. Then get some reg beam halogens. It's like damn, I liked the white light.

My truck has gotten a lot of love these past few months.

- The drivers side inner tie rod was shot so I decided to replace the inners and outers on both sides to save the trouble down the road. ($250)
- Replaced the lower steering shaft because it was seized on one axis. ($175...pricier than I expected)
- Brought it in for the alignment and the shop said it needs lower ball joints and possibly a wheel bearing. I wasn't paying $600 for ball joints so I told them I'd take it home and have it back in a couple of weeks.
- Replaced both lower ball joints and sway bar bushings ($160)
- Found a pair of front wheel bearings on Amazon so I replaced both sides the same time I did the ball joints. ($145)
- Drivers side CV shaft had excessive play so I replaced that, and the stub shaft. ($230)
- While going through the Timmies drive through and noticed some grinding/squeaking with the drivers window down. Got home and checked the front drive shaft, noticed a clicking noise when I twisted the CV joint. ($250)
- Finally, rear wheel bearings and seals are on the way ($80 + $75 for 3 qts of RP 75w140)

It's at 165,000 km's so I have a new water pump, thermostat/housing, gaskets and coolant in the garage. I'll wait for summer to bold that up.

I gave 'er some much needed attention. I was due for an oil change so I finally quit procrastinating on my oil filter relocation kit. The PacBrake #10362 is an amazing kit. My only complaint is the the hoses are identical length and it'd be better fitting if one of them was .5"-.75" shorter than the other. Finally ordered a UPR catch can and put it on. And lastly, finally got the Powerstops off the work bench and on the truck. I did the rears about a month or so ago and hadn't found the time to do the fronts. 20220415_113043.jpg20220415_173327.jpg20220415_173351.jpg20220415_173414.jpg20220417_125936.jpg20220417_133929.jpg

Stopped by the shop I used to work at and had the oil changed and tires rotated in preparation for a trip coming up on Friday. Today I'm planning on giving her a bath since shes covered in oak pollen and a hawk as decided that shes a toilet.
It’s the season

Better than a peacock. They'll walk all over the hood and roof scratching the paint and make you think a pterodactyl flew over.

@RAM DRVR Spring thaw. Full disclosure it was actually the tank that was frozen. The gauge had been stuck at the halfway mark since before we picked it up from the dealership earlier this winter. Last week it finally started dropping. When it hit a quarter tank I decided to see what would happen and added a two and a half gallon jug. It moved up to around the three-quarter mark so I added another jug and it moved to just below full so I added one more gallon. I'm claiming Victory no matter what.

I thought you'd put it on a "diet". I did EFI live on my diesel Cruze and now it always says DEF level is 100% full, even though the tank is in the junk pile. LOL

Is that an option for the EcoD?

I don't have one so I'm not sure. I almost bought an ED instead of the 5.7L but that was when they were cracking down on the diet tunes. I had to find a guy for mine because they weren't publicly available. I didn't want the same problem with an ED so I bit the bullet on a 5.7L instead. If I find myself in a Cummins I'll either get a pre emissions or one that's been on a diet already. Any modern diesel is a fine engine, right up until the EPA got their hands on it.

My 3500 needed a new heater core, yep - I waited till summers almost here to get the heat working again, never said I was smart, figured while I had it apart I'd convert it to dual zone ATC - works as advertised - thanks to all of those folks on here who paved the trail.

Hardest thing I did today (thus far). It was down to either the rumble bee or the reproduction R/T grill badge, the rumble bee stood out way more. So, it now adorns that big old empty grill... That ain't so empty anymore... :)

Now, I am off to the great outdoors to complete the CB install.

Took my beauty on a trip to Oklahoma City and back to look at buying a home (roughly 2,500 miles). Nice, smooth drive. Got anywhere from 18-22 MPG on the trip. Soon be time for an oil change. :)
