how much cold weather and how cold, interested in how the Li-ion batteries are holding up.
Our winters are often cold at -20 F or more below zero. How long the cold lasts varies a lot but, boating and motorcycling is usually over by October and doesn't start again until May. The cold can last a long time. No battery issues. Our overnight temps are still below freezing.

So you are fairly far North, does your truck sit outside during the coldest days and have you noticed any draws from the battery upon cold start ups, maybe not because there is still a regular battery in the mix. I'm concerned about a Li-ion battery sitting over night at -40 which we see sometimes for 3 months straight.

My truck lives inside at night. It will sometimes sit out during the day or if I am away. No battery problems ever. I have had two electric cars and neither had any issues with batteries. My all electric (Bolt) suffered reduced range but that was not severe and never had any effect on dependability or usability. Todays batteries are very good and quite reliable.

Keep it simple : Hemi 5.7

My 05 Ram has sat out in Rocky Mtns overnite many times in below zero. With a great battery it starts up everytime. I wouldnt worry bout an xtra 1-2 mpg on paper or what many say herebout that. Everybody drives in different conds and habits.

Detroit et.al. keeps trying to reinvent the wheel -literally here - MSD , eTorque , wtf next ???
Keep it simple and you will be happy goin down the road .

I ordered my truck without. Buddy at work has eT. He gets 15 mpg no towing with 3.92. If you are worried about mpg the 3.21 vs torque is a
Much bigger consideration in my view. I have driven my buddy’s truck, e torque is not very noticeable to me at all other than engine start/stop system that comes with eT being very annoying.

Just get the Eco diesel with 34 gal tank , 23 mpg x 33gal over 700 mi range .If we hit shortages or lines iike 70s u go to truck stops. If they have shortages we all Ucked . The Etorque mostly useless but might make good gocart motor

I have a 2021 RAM Longhorn Limited with the 5.7L Hemi engine with eTorque. I have had NO problems at all.
It adds a little boost in torque and helps with mileage a bit.
If you want to review a more detailed explanation about eTorque, a YouTube video explanation by a RAM engineer can be viewed at:

RAM eTorque: 6 Things You Probably Didn't Know"

Hope it helps in your decision-making.

I have a 2021 Laramie with the eTorque 5.7, and I wish I didn't get it. There's a 1+ second throttle response delay that the dealer and RAM state are "normal". This delay causes concerns when pulling into traffic, since the time between pressing the throttle and the truck responding shortens the space available in traffic. Also, I get worse mileage than my 2017 Laramie with the 5.7 VVT. At this time I'm considering options to get out of this 2021.

I have a 2021 with etorque and like it. There is a very good youtube explanation of the system that you might find interesting. No storage loss with the etorque battery. If the weight of the battery is a concern, then I would opt for a larger truck. It seems to me that many of the stories I read regarding the system happens to someone that knows someone. I like it and would do it again.

Looking to order a 2022 Ram Laramie and I come across engine selection I can choose from 5.7 V8 hemi VVT or the VVTe. The only difference I see is that 1 of them gets 1 more MPG. Whats the big deal they both have the same horse power and both are the same option price.
So, for starters the regular hemi does not have an auto stop feature, the E does. Battery is the cab, generator is under the hood the the benefits are 1 mile per gallon, and a little more torque. I have the VVT and it is my third one and they are bullet proof, I can not say I have heard the same for the E model where the generator seems to me a major problem.

The E torque is mainly for the Stop Start system, its much smoother smoother. I do not like the Stop Start system. The generator and 48 volt battery are just more things to go bad, Avild the E torque system, Juts my thinking.

I wouldn’t get the Etourqe. I can’t stand the auto start/stop. Yes there is a button to turn it off but you have to press it each time to disable it. The less complicated the better.

Thanks for your reply. You kind of lost me there, how does cost effect anything it the engines are the same cost option. If the battery is behind the rear seat is that going to cut into my storage room under the back seat?
The nine are not the same cost. Sticker wise the regular 5.7 is $2295, the etorq is $2795, or $2995. Have seen both prices listed on the window stickers. I just bought a new truck went with the regular engine, could nit give me the other etorq motor.

The eTorque is a mild hybrid system that provides more torque when needed and better fuel economy. The traditional alternator is replaced by a generator system. The battery is not serviceable and uses the generator and regenerative braking to charge. I recommend the eTorque, personally.
The regular hemi can't get worse mileage than my 2022 Limited etorque. I get 11 in city (real city, short trips) and 18 on the interstate at 70 mpg. VERY disappointed!

The diesel for the 1500 is not a Cummins as I understand it. Supposedly it’s an Italian job.
This is true. The ecoDiesel is manufactured by VM Motori - an Italian diesel manufacturer.

I'm on my third eTorque Limited. Had a 19, 21 and now the 22. eTorque has almost zero effect on mileage on the highway. The 22 stop start operates differently as well. It will shut the truck off while still rolling instead of waiting for a full stop. eTorque does make for smoother shifts and also helps hold the speed better on grades (up and down). At no cost difference I would definitely go eTorque. This is my 9th new Hemi Ram and 13th Hemi powered vehicle including a couple 6.4 Jeeps. I have had zero problems with eTorque.

I would get the reg. 5.7, the etorque has its issues, and your trade-in
value may be less, many would not want one. In the north, very few
are sold.
BULL CHIT.Supply your link or NUMBERS/FACTS on how many or few are sold in the north country...
