What's the average lifespan of front wheel hub bearings?
I always thought they'd last at 100k mi, but was told today mine are at the beginning of going out at 73.5k

There is some play in the wheel, but very little. Loud pop at random times, when making hard turns

I have always found that when they wear out, their life span is over :)

Weather and use are going to play into. Off road use, deeper water use (even water on flooded streets), etc.
Other than that, I have never seen a pattern on hubs on other vehicles.

I just ordered 2 OE hubs from RockAuto for my 2015 with 140k miles.

Have a growly, road noise-ish sound coming from the right front. Very slight play, almost non-existent, but when I spin the wheel with the brake pads released, I can hear just a small crinkly sound. I think I am in the earliest stage of failure.

Gonna do them both, figure the other one is not far behind.

My Ram is 2wd, so no axle nut, just the 3 hub bolts holding them in. Tomorrow will be D-Day for me.

As far as lifespan, I believe alot depends on environment, road salt, pot holes, water exposure, etc. I am fortunate to live in Flatistan, and inland a bit. Roads are decent, weather is good, etc.

I wish you smooth repairs for yours.

I just did one on my wife's Mazda 3 @ 85,000 miles, but between pot holes and me pounding on the rotor for 3 hours to get a seized rotor off a couple of years ago, I am surprised it lasted this long.
Oh, and it's a press bearing, not a hub :(

Good luck changing the hub, I have seen those really rusted in there from the salt and brine use up here.
Hopefully being in TX, yours is an easy unbolt and swap.

Maybe @VernDiesel will chime in on how many miles he has racked up on his hubs, the truck is over 800K miles.
I believe he lubes the hubs through the ABS sensor opening.

OP, your wheel hub is definitely at the end of it's life. Glad you're on it (for safety).

I've had great luck with wheel hub/bearings (many vehicles near or over 200k mi), I think my truck's are original (high mileage) but I can't say 100% for certain. But anything can happen with mechanical parts. Get a good replacement if you plan to hang onto your tk. Now you'll have peace of mind yer running on new/good hubs.

I recently replaced mine just shy of 132k miles. Driver's side was making noise when turning right. Couldn't feel anything and was quiet when going straight. My truck is 4wd so a little more time consuming but finished in a day.

I had to get my driver's side wheel bearing replaced on my 2021 Warlock with only 4K, before I made the first payment

FWIW: I had to have the right side hub in my '16 3500 Cummins replaced at 82,500 +/-. I was on the road and had been hearing a noise but it didn't occur to me that the wheel bearings were going out until it got really bad. Managed to limp into a tire store in the middle of nowhere Missouri. O'Reilly's in Carthage, MO had the part and the young guy that owned the tire store R&Red the hub for me.

My diesel has 22 years and 200k on it and the hubs are original. Highway miles mostly towing. I have never submerged them under water.

how to lube them would be awesome, as far as i know there is only 1 lube point
you pull the ABS sensor out of the front hub and use a grease gun with a rubber tip nozzle on the end of the hose.

Not an apples to apples comparison but my '14 RAM started growling at me at about 90k. Some go 100k+ without problems. What I usually find they will get noisy long before they get loose which is a good indicator that is time to replace them.

When I traded in my 04.5 2500 on a 14 3500 MegaCab SRW the 2500 had 193,000 miles on it and it had the original hubs, batteries and exhaust.
