Has anyone tried one of these bullet point ram phone mount? They utilize the ram ball and socket mount. Neat idea and considering something like this for our long trips.

I have one works really good. I have a extra arm to keep my phone down a little more to keep it out of my view. For function it's really good and quality it top notch.

Can someone tell me why they like having their phone mounted that high? I'm not knocking it, and if it works for you that's great. I just can't see a reason I'd need to mount my phone in my line of sight while I'm driving. The stock phone holder position works fine for my use if I need to charge it. Other than that it stays in my pocket. Any phone calls I get show up on the uconnect screen.

I use it mainly for maps when I drive since I dont use the nav in the truck and my '17 doesnt have carplay.

1 - Look at my picture, the phone is not in the line of site
2 - Why ask that question if you are satisfied with your way?

Why not ask that question? It's called curiosity. Are you so content in your ways that you never question anything? Your questioning my question answers my second question BTW. ;)

To keep my head up if I need to look at the screen, it's my GPS. Looking down would take my eyes off the road.

Thanks for the answers guys. I forget how many non 5th gen owners post here, and unless you have a 2018+ model you wouldn't have apple car play or android auto. 5th gens support those, so it seemed redundant to have your phone mounted that high. I can display my phone to my uconnect screen using car play if I don't want to use the onboard nav, so having my phone in the console or in my pocket isn't an issue. Thanks again.

I have a Bullet point mount in my truck as well and really like it. I added a mini arm to mine so it sits right above the start button. Solid mount like it .
