It should be mentioned that for the 5th gen 1500’s, the factory auxiliary switch bank will only work on 2021-2022. They will not respond at all, even after enabling them with AlfaOBD, on 2019-2020.

It should be mentioned that for the 5th gen 1500’s, the factory auxiliary switch bank will only work on 2021-2022. They will not respond at all, even after enabling them with AlfaOBD, on 2019-2020.
It’s not my responsibility to mention that when Benjamin made it work. If it didn’t work Benjamin wouldn’t sell the kit for all the 5th gen years. I will change my post when Benjamin the owner of 4wheeleletronics says so. It’s not my responsibility to mention that when Benjamin made it work. If it didn’t work Benjamin wouldn’t sell the kit for all the 5th gen years. Many of us have been working at this for the last year on another forum, and we’ve figured out the 2019-2020 BCMs have different linbus messages sent to the switch bank, and CBC Features Configuration AUX Switches PTO does not enable them.
Since this is a public forum, I’m mentioning it, because I would hate for someone with a 2019-2020 DT to buy the kit, switches, and AlfaOBD setup only to find out it doesn’t work for them.

Many of us have been working at this for the last year on another forum, and we’ve figured out the 2019-2020 BCMs have different linbus messages sent to the switch bank, and CBC Features Configuration AUX Switches PTO does not enable them.
Since this is a public forum, I’m mentioning it, because I would hate for someone with a 2019-2020 DT to buy the kit, switches, and AlfaOBD setup only to find out it doesn’t work for them.
I tried it on a 2020 and got the 1-4 buttons to populate on the radio but no switch functions. The strange part is when I selected dt 2020 Alfa obd would say connected to my 2019.

Yup, that’s the exact behavior every else with a 19-20 is experiencing. Unlike the 4th gens, where the switches just worked even if you didn’t program them, they need to be enabled in the BCM via the cbc features setting on the 5th gens and 2019+ HDs. The 2019-2020 1500 BCMs just aren’t capable of doing that.

Unlike the 4th gens, where the switches just worked even if you didn’t program them, they need to be enabled in the BCM via the cbc features setting on the 5th gens and 2019+ HDs. The 2019-2020 1500 BCMs just aren’t capable of doing that.
Do you have a link to the other forum?

The PTO configuration was under suspension and not CBC which was odd

In order to get the correct CBC Features setting to show up, you need to go into AlfaOBD settings and check the box for “do not verify ECU”. Then choose MY2021 or 2022 for the body computer selection before you connect. Disregard the air suspension switch configuration setting.

It’s not an AlfaOBD issue. The issue is, the 2019-2020 5th gen 1500 BCMs have different linbus messages that aren’t capable at all of operating a factory aux switch bank. AlfaOBD can’t do anything about that. The only way is some type of man-in-the-middle linbus board forwarding the correct messages, if that’s even possible.

I had a great conversation with Ben today. The testing he did was on a 2020 2500. Being the only dedicated ram shop on the east coast I have access to every year 5th gen truck that we could make a guinea pig. His plans for the future are awesome!!! Great guy

They use a different BCM for each year. The 5th gens aren’t like the 4th gens, where you used to be able to turn on features that weren’t options and they would just work.
The DT BCM is different than the classic BCM, and they have circuits in different connector/pin locations. 2019 DT BCM is 68287182AH, 2020 DT is 68444252AI, 2021 is 68496414AE.
2021 is the year they added factory options to the DT like trailer reverse steering, aux switches, digital rear view mirror, trailer light check, and trailer TPMS. None of these options can be made to work via AlfaOBD on the 2019-2020 DT BCMs.

Does anyone have a solution for the 19-20 5th gens such as the AEV switch panel offered to the 13-18’s that sits above the radio. Or an A pillar mount offered to the jeep crowd?
I know aux beam makes a panel but the only flat surface in my current project has a cb radio taking up that spot
