Hey,

I’m aware of the jump seat to centre console conversion threads which are very useful. However, there are just a few questions I have regarding the “little things”.

The conversion will happen on a 2019 RAM 1500 Classic Express with Dual Climate Zone Control. Meaning the jump seat does indeed have air vents flowing through to the rear of the cab.

The full length centre console has a 12V cigarette lighter outlet within the storage bin next to the phone holders (See image for reference). It also has a 12V cigarette lighter outlet on the backplate for the rear seats. (See image for reference)

I have two 12V cigarette lighter outlets under my radio right now. I’m pretty confident the wiring should reach the bin’s cigarette lighter outlet. However, I’m not too sure on the backplate reachability. Does anyone know if it can reach or do I have to solder/tap into it with an extension?

Also, I’m adding the 3 prong power inverter outlet plug which fits to the bottom right corner of the radio bezel. I’m not too knowledgeable with electric currents, but could I just tap into the 12V cigarette lighter wire to feed power to the 3 prong power inverter outlet? Would it affect anything critically?

I appreciate the time to whoever reads this post.

Updating this thread with my findings.

The 12V Cigarette Lighter wires on RAMs without a full center console only reach to the outlets. The left outlet is only powered when the vehicle is in accessory or run (Hence the key icon on the outlet cap). The right outlet is always hot. (Hence the battery icon on the outlet cap). Obviously, disconnect your battery if attempting to extend these wires.

I was able to cut the factory insulation between both wires with a knife.

Each cigarette lighter has 2 wires which are 16 gauge. I was able to cut and intertwine an extension to the wires to reach the bin of the center console and the rear backplate. I then wrapped it with electrical tape. I purposely extended them more than needed to prevent any tugging. It's not worth soldering these small wires.

Everything works as expected, no power loss issues or faulty connection issues.
