I did order the longer bed. If the big bed come with bigger tank, that makes the long bed a no brainer doesn’t it? It’s like $100 for the longer bed or something…

A longer bed would be nice, but you can't get the ramboxe option with the long bed on a 1500, which was a deal-breaker for me. Rambox/MFT combo is the thing I love most about my truck.

Does everyone pay with a card ?
At most of the stations i see in my area, stations charge 10 cents per gallon when you use a card.

There are very few places that just have a 35 cent charge for using a card,

I think that i am going back to paying cash, just have to find the ATMs that don't charge $3.00 to use the machine
In my area Fred Meyer/Kroger does not charge extra for using CC nor does the 76 station just down the street but Arco, Shell, Chevron and truck stops sure do, when I travel I try to not buy from places that want 10 for using CC but when I have to its nice as I buy all my fuel with my Citi Card because I get 4% rebate on all fuel purchases up to $7500 year..

That's interesting. Where did you pull this page from? The only fuel tank sizes for 5th gen 1500's is 23, 26, or 33 gallons. You could get a 32 gallon tank on 4th gens, but I've never seen that on a 5th gen.

Like I said I went to the RAM website. Heres pictorial instructions.

It does, unless as Mike mentioned, you want ram boxes. However, this free upgrade with larger bed is only something that happened recently for reasons I'm unaware of, before this recent change it was the standard $445 upgrade charge regardless of bed size.

If you have a Costco close by, check and see if they are carrying diesel. Many of the newer ones do. Mine has B5. They are the cheapest in the area, cards only and if you use your Costco Visa you get a 4% rebate.

I will only buy #2 Diesel, when ever it is available.
Cooking Oil may work, but it sure messes up the Diesel Fuel Filter quickly

You can always go old school locomotive style and haul a 1000 gallon tank on a trailer. Should be able to make it coast-coast on one stop as long as you keep it under 100*.

Is there any DOT approved equipment for transferring fuel from a trailer to an onboard tank? That would be sweet!

When i had my 2009 Ram 5.7L
It had the 32 gallon tank & it would go approximately 330 - 350 miles at about 62 MPH

Because i work for trucking companies & i had to travel with their trucks. i needed more fuel, trucks carry 200 - 400 gallons of diesel

I bought a Transfer Flow auxiliary fuel tank, 30 gallon capacity & i also had three 6 gallon fuel cans.
That gave me 80 gallons of gas, to start my day with

Now i have a ram eco-diesel with the 28 gallon tank, it is suppose to get close to 700 miles per tank
I still carry the 3 jugs full of diesel.

Now the 3 jugs get filled when ever i cross into Arizona, where diesel is $1 cheaper per gallon than Cali

I had a lighter tool box made

the jugs sit in the tray

How did fuel get from auxiliary tank into the main tank? This seems rather dangerous as a standard load. Did you need some sort of hazmat designation to use this commercially?

Around here, some do, some don't. Usually those that charge more for credit card are the already discount stations anyways. I've kept my VISA card through AAA because I get a gas rebate.

I have gas card for 2 stations around me. I get cash price plus a discount based on my purchases. Right now I am @ the .20 per gall off. This way I am able to purchase 89 at or below 87 price. I have a Mobile and Shell, Mobile is good at Mobile and exxon and Shell is only good at shell. They are supplied by the gas company, not a credit card.

Gas card have to be paid in full at the end of the month.

We use Sam's Club Master card for a 5% discount on fuel from any station. But it's a wash because we buy 2 or 3 big containers of peanut butter pretzel bites...

am i incorrect, is 28 gallon not the only size that you can get with the eco-diesel engine ?

When i had that setup, the Law stated that the auxiliary tank could not be connected directly to the vehicles tank.
In other words, you could not have a Switch or valve in the cab that would allow the auxiliary tank to drain or pump into the vehicles tank.

It is perfectly legal the have a Transfer Fuel Tank.
My particular Transfer Tank had a pump & fuel nozzle, that pumped something like 5 gallons a minute.
The pump is Blue & you can plainly see the fuel nozzle.

The ecodiesel has the same fuel tank options as trucks with the Hemi or Pentastar engines. Those options are 23, 26, and 33 gallons. But availability is somewhat limited by model or option choices. For example, the 23 gallon tank is not available on a Limited.

Edit: I just realized you have a 4th gen. This is a 5th gen forum so I always seem to assume that's what people are asking about. Fuel tank choices on 4th gen 1500's were either 26 or 32 gallons.

If you DO NOT order it in advance or find one on the lot with the 33 gallon tank, to do it after you own it costs you triple (over a thousand dollars for an additional 7 gal is absurd). The 36 gallon tank is ONLY for the Diesel due to the EPA and EGR restrictions (think charcoal canister filters which occupies space that could be used for fuel, GRRRRRRRRRRR)

When I ordered my 2021 1500 I wanted the extra tank but it was a $300 or $400 option… not worth for 7 more gallons
