I purchased Factory Lifetime Unlimited Milage Warranty when I bought the truck. At ~40,000 miles it bought me a new Radio Screen and Chrysler refunded my warranty $100 deductible because it was out of factory warranty but that screen had known issues. I was happy.

At ~50,000 miles driving unloaded on the highway my tranny went into 4th gear limp mode (did not know that was a thing at the time) I tried manually shifting +/- , switched on Tow Mode, nothing so I pulled off the road , turned ignition off , restarted and all good. No other issues for next ~2000 miles.

When I took it in for the next service I advised them of the "stuck in 4th" thing. They said that "no codes showed on diagnostics".

At ~60,000 miles same thing , same response from dealer when serviced again. No codes.

I experience "limp mode" 3 or 4 more times between 60,000 service and ~72,000 . Back to dealer , they said "well you were supposed to have tranny serviced at 60,000, fluid change and 2 filters, that is your problem" I reminded them that I had told them of the issue 2 other times when in for service way before 60,000. They shrugged me off. I had them change F and R Diffs and TC fluids and service Tranny , fluids and 2 filters. Again, "all looks good, no codes"

BTW, owner's manual says Trans service at 60,000 if used as Fleet, Taxi, or "frequent towing" 120,000 miles otherwise. I tow a bass boat and a 2 horse trailer occasionally as I have another rig for heavy everyday ranch work/towing

At ~77,000 the truck started bucking , erratic shifts, limp mode, loud kick in the butt when shifting into reverse , shift from 1st to second RPMs skyrocket and then bang into 2nd.

I limped it to a different dealer , Moritz in Ft Worth , and the Adviser plugged in diagnostic reader right there on the spot and said "there are all kinds of codes" and next day was told my tranny was dead and either needed complete rebuild or replacement and Chrysler would decide. They decided to replace it. Today they said Tranny was on backorder and may possibly be a month or longer. They said my warranty only covers first $175 of rental but "no worries" Chrysler is covering 100% and you will get a 1/2 ton truck not a car since obviously that is what you prefer.

That $3000 warranty is golden, that truck will be in my barn till the day I die. I've put the lifetime warranty to the test and Chrysler passed with flying colors.

If you live anywhere near Ft Worth, Moritz Chrysler Dodge RAM Jeep will take good care of you! Im taking my Service Advisor a bottle of Jack when I pick my PW up.
Wow… You got a loaner pick up? That’s unheard of around my parts. I’m in Terrell on the other side of Dallas at a brand new dealership that’s only two years old and they keep telling me they don’t even have a loaner. I have a seven year unlimited mileage warranty from the factory. I’ve had two broken valve springs that they paid for but no loaner this time. Last time they gave me a renegade LMAO. Right now

Another lifetime warranty here.

'12 Ram 1500 Big Horn Hemi.
235k miles

-Rear Diff Rebuilt
-A/C evaporator core (inside the truck) replaced
-Multiple sets of exhaust manifold bolts
-Lots of other odds n ends along the way.

Another plus... The $100 deductible is per visit, not per item. So if you have a list of 10 issues, it's still the $100 deductible.

I'm going to be really sad when I have to start paying for vehicle maintenance again on my next truck. But that won't be till this one dies n they they refuse to revive it.

Part of the reason I got the lifetime warranty was to keep my ass from buying a new truck with more and newer trinkets!! lol

I think that's one reason it went away. It's a bucket of cold water thrown at the passion of a new car sale. I'm not one to chase incremental 'upgrades' anyway, and the 5th gen just hasn't really done it for me. I occasionally consider a new Rebel or Tremor, but I like dividends on $70k more than I like $70k of different truck, and I like having that lifetime warranty.

I'm sure it was a huge reason it went away! I'm with you, much better to see money coming in on $70k than going out of for it.

Yes Moritz in Ft Worth , got a loaner. Lifetime warranty only covers first $175 of "rental" The loaner is a Moritz truck, I don't know if warranty is paying for it or not. I did not sign a rental agreement. It has a TOLL TAG on windshield. They gave me a agreement to sign which is bring back with same amount of gas, no smoking, no pets or $79 cleaning fee. Got a call today that ETA of new transmission is May 19. I'll be bass fishing in Florida till May 22. They said, no problem enjoy the trip and call when you get back.

after a few days driving the 1500 the acceleration buzz has worn off and I miss my PW.

I find it hard to believe that when a transmission goes into Limp Mode it doesn't leave any stored codes!

2019 Ram 1500 Billet Silver Quad Cab 2WD, 5.7 Hemi, 8HP75, 3.21 axle, 33-gallon fuel tank, factory dual exhaust, 18” wheels. Build date: 3 June 2018. Now at 69051 miles
Believe it or not, that is what the dealer I purchased it from told me the times I took it in for oil changes and complained about tranny issues long ago. I would not be surprised if they did not even check for codes. Your guess is as good as mine. That is why I took it to Moritz when the tranny started self destructing even though the Lifetime paperwork says you should take it in for warranty to the dealer you purchased warranty from unless you are unable to. Moritz did not question it.

I posted above that I did not know if warranty was paying for the loaner. I should have said I didn’t know if the dealership or warranty was paying, I just know it’s not me

Not a bad time to have a loaner sitting in remote parking at DFW while I fish in Florida for 10 days lol

I’m due for tires on PW , what ya think about the NITTO Ridge Grapplers 285 / 75 / 17 on stockers

You are lucky to be able to get a lifetime warranty anymore. Most companies won't even consider offering it, because it ends up costing them money on the people that actually do take advantage of that.

I have a 2017 1500 Big Horn. I have the lifetime warranty, used it once - exhaust manifold seal (?). Double check the wording on the warranty. Mine states they will replace UNTIL the value of the fix exceeds the value of the truck, then they will pay me the value of the truck and then the warranty expires.

That is correct, the warranty is in effect for 99 years, 999,999 miles, or until the value of the repair exceeds the value of the vehicle, at which point they cut a check for the value of the vehicle (I read mine in its entirety after I purchased it...wife was a little upset that I read the whole damn thing).

That said, the way truck prices are and look to continue to be for a while...I'm not getting rid of the PW anytime soon. Because with 85k miles on a 2017 the estimated value is still up over $40k. There's a LOT of repairs that can be made for that price.

That said, I have had to use my Lifetime Maxxcare once so far, to replace a couple of the ParkAssist sensors in the rear bumper (thanks Michigan Road Salt).

And the beautiful part about having a GREAT working relationship with the dealer? They didn't even charge me the $100 deductible, the dealer covered it.

I've said it many times - be nice to your service people. They'll take care of you.

As stated earlier in the thread, the Lifetime Maxxcare extended warranty went away near the end of 2018. I bought my November 30 of that year. They had actually already removed it from the computers, so I had to call another dealer from the finance lady's office at my dealer to get it - which she had no issues with since the dealer doesn't really make any money off those warranties anyway.

I think the most you can purchase now is 8 years, I don't know what the max mileage is.

This is so frustrating to me. I've bought 2 ram pickups new- one in MO and one in NM. I asked about this warranty and was planning to buy it no matter the cost for these exact reasons. Both dealers looked at me like I had two heads and said there's no such thing!

AARGH!

2009 ram 1500 130k miles

70k -> transmission replaced
120k -> new long block (timing chain skipped a tooth). Took 140 days as they first tried to short block and rebuild and couldn't get it to start :(.
130k -> rear end bearing.

Other odds and ends (manifold, multiple times. Radiator).

One leaking shock

No other issues @ 135k.

No clue on the deductible, I think the dealer gets to keep it. Never been charged it.

I bought it at as my first truck out of college... so this one could see a long life.

It was only offered for a select few years.

Correct. It was offered back in the late '00s I believe, went away for a few years, came back in the mid 10's, then went away at the end of '18 and hasn't been back.

My in-laws had it on an either '08 or 09 Chrysler 300, then I had it on both my wife's 2016 Durango (which I wish I HADN'T bought it on because that thing sucked in the winter - the AWD did not react as advertised so we got rid of it after about 2 years) and still have it on my '17 PW. It was actually a major selling point for me, I almost didn't purchase the truck until they told me it qualified for the Lifetime Maxxcare.

I ended up getting the better available warranty on my RAM, but I don't remember if it was the best one the dealership offered. If I remember right, it just extended the bumper to bumper part that didn't reach the entire mileage allowance to cover the entire mileage, which is 60k, or 5 years, I think.

Mine was replaced within months after purchasing the truck new off the lot. It was already shot. That was 6 years ago. I think it is due again, because last time i was winching the dash kept giving me low voltage warnings and the winch would shut off for a minute or so.
