I recently converted my radio in my 2019 classic tradesman to the 8.4 4c non nav. I can’t seem to get my Apple car play to work though. The company I got the conversion kit from said I don’t need the usb hub upgrade can that be the problem? Thanks!

That would be my first guess. The Uconnect 4 requires a cable connection in order to work from the factory.

It does have a small usb connection that plugs in the back of the radio, and the usb hub in my jump seat is the same long horizontal one that’s the same as the 2018 ram. I can even play music through the usb but CarPlay never comes up on screen

What company/who did you get the'kit' from and what was included?

Will also need to know...

what radio you originally had?
(Ra2? W/phone & VR buttons on wheel & mics on headliner?).

Factory installed 8.4 Radio with Dual Zone ATC?

What year/model 8.4 radio did you use?
18 UAS/UAQ... Actual PNs please),

Do you have a Backup Camera/Cargo Cam? (Where do they display?)

What parts, if any have you bought?
(Actual PNs help)

If I remember correctly, there is one hub that looks new but will only work for Android Auto for some reason.

This is the media hub in my jump seat right now. If this is what you’re talking about that would make sense

Looking at my window sticker, the truck was supposed to come with the Uconnect 4C 8.4" display but under optional equipment is says it has the Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4", display does this mean I don't have Apple Carplay? This is what my sticker says:
Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4–Inch Display
5–Year SiriusXM® Traffic™ Service
SiriusXM® Traffic Plus
SiriusXM® Travel Link 5–Year Travel Link Sub

You have the top of the line OEM radio for that year which includes Apple Carplay and Android Auto. You must plug your phone into the USB hub to activate and use these features.
I used a cord that I bought from Fred Meyers to connect the Apple Carplay but it didn't work, I'll buy one of the Apple USB cords and see if that works. Appreciate your help man.

No problem. I think in early 2018 builds only one of the USB ports works for Carplay as well so be sure to try both.

In my 2018 3500 the only port that works for carplay is the left one inside the jump seat (after upgrading the media hub). I think you can enable other ports to work as well with alpha though.

4C with Nav means you should be getting the UAQ which has carplay and android auto support.

Here is the USB PDF for U connect and Apple Carplay/Android. Front Media Hub for USB: In front center console, front, under my Plain Jane 4 Radio, 8.4 system: (NO NAV, etc).

Both USB symboled jacks work for Carplay, left or right. Now I have a lowly Bighorn, Higher trim levels, Carplay supposed to work both wired and wireless, but I have no way to check, since on my Bighorn, only wired USB connections works.

All USB ports (USB-A and USB-c) in your picture should work with Wired android auto and Apple Carplay. Wireless carplay / Android Auto isn't available in until 2022 (Uconnect 5)

YUP, posting for OP. My screen if I go deep into evic shows the wireless/BT option, just not work, LOL, wired all the way. I do use a good cable though, found cheap cables work poorly in my case.
