This sounds very similar to my experience. In addition, the dongle would frequently need to be reset. It was truly worth having to pay the last two installments to get out of the contract. From what I understand, "Send and Go" is no longer available and that was the one feature I used quite a bit. Now that I have unlimited data, Alexa Auto is a much appreciated addition to our Ram and Pacifica. No additional cost and the navigation is updated thru Google rather than paying FCA $99-$150 to update the Uconnect navigation. If you haven't tried Alexa Auto as an add-on, try it, you may just like it!I'll provide my experience regarding the new 4G adapter. Yes, it's $10.00 a month with a 1 year contract on the adapter. Cancel before the year then you pay full price for adapter. My vehicle stays at home all week long with rate usage on the weekend so after installing the adapter in November I never needed to use it. Fast forward to February I start getting emails stating the adapter needs software update. Followed instructions. Next month same thing. Needs software update. A few weeks later same thing. Called Uconnect to be told I need to drive the vehicle for at least 5 trips of 15 minute round trips in the coverage area. Did that to no avail. The adapter , uses T-mobile network which I have no coverage at my home. Tech support asked me to drive 26 miles away to go sit at a park in order for the adapter to get good enough signal for them to troubleshoot why it isn't functioning. Canceled the service because if it will not work from my home who is to say it will function in other areas that I may need the functions. They will not or cannot chance carrier's to remedy this issue. Verizon is the only cell service that works for Mr.
Did you get customer preferred package H2O? Might need it if you are going to leave your truck thereHad it up until recently when the
T-Mobile adapter was required and became unreliable.
Looking for my truck and a picture is worth a thousand words.
I activated it with my 2916 Ram crewcab Bighorn and after getting it i couldn't live without it, at any cost. Starting it on a cold winter day from my phone alone is worth the $30. Since they moved off the 3G adaptir and onto the 4G ATT adaptor (ODB port dongle), they've changed the price and I pay $10 for all the same service and convenience, not the least of which us veung start, stop, check status from inside a building anywhere in the world. This was hany when vacations in Floriida in winter and starting the truck to warm it up on extremely cold days Which I could verify with a camera in my driveway besides getting a confirmatiin. I'll never be without it.When I got my 2018 Ram, I activated the 1 year Uconnect app thing. It worked ok, was nice to be able to remote start my truck far away, and check it's locked, etc, but nothing I couldn't live without, so when I realized they wanted $30/month for it I just said heck no. Fast forward to when I got my 2020 Rebel, I didn't even bother activating it, and let the free 1 year just lapse.
Was just wondering if anybody knows whether Ram still charges for this BS? I recently developed a need for it, but not really enough to pay all that money, but it would be nice if it was available for free or nominal cost. Most other manufacturers don't charge for a similar app--I know Ford doesn't, my brother has it on his F150 at no cost forever.

Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are run from your phone and have nothing to do with the Uconnect service. They run on your phone and use your phone's data plan to operate. They should function just fine as long as you have mobile data enabled on your smart phone and the appropriate app installedThe Russians commandeered a great number of John Deere tractors and farm implements in the Ukraine and carted them off to Russia. Then John Deere remotely deactivated the units and now they are totally useless. If JD can do it for farm equipment, I'm thinking car companies can do it for vehicles.
I did not pay for Uconnect from the get go on my 2019 Laramie 2500. The problem is I just got an email that stated CarPlay and Google have been updated and greatly improved the app on the RAM. To do the update it appears I have 2 choices: 1 use Uconnect (which I have not activated) or take it to a dealership. I tried to use Uconnect without using the subscription service, but it did not seem to work to update CarPlay.
I have made trips before knowing that I was going to a remote area and wouldn't have cell service. You are able to download a map of a certain are with Google. That helped a lotI think I learned this the hard way last weekend when I was in an area without cell service, but thought I could rely on my truck's GPS to get me places, and I couldn't run searches. Funny, in my old 2006 with old GPS I could do this just fine with no paid service. They really get you these days.
and its terrible dont get it dose not work most of the timeWhen I got my 2018 Ram, I activated the 1 year Uconnect app thing. The bad news is that he has to drive an F150.Most other manufacturers don't charge for a similar app--I know Ford doesn't, my brother has it on his F150 at no cost forever.
I pay for it and don’t remember exactly what it costs. I believe though by having it, I’m able to use emergency services and call for roadside assistance. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that’s what the package entails. When I got my 2018 Ram, I activated the 1 year Uconnect app thing. Yes, you're correct. But unless you're in a remote location, you can do those things with a cell phone.I pay for it and don’t remember exactly what it costs. Which is why the OPs brother has it for free on his F-150 because you know what Ford stands for: Fix Or Repair Daily and Found On Road Dead.I pay for it and don’t remember exactly what it costs.
