Yeabi never had an issue getting and I get twice a year but this time is difficult.

I need to do my front diff and transfer case maybe will try to find redline for those.
I did my rear diff last year with amsoil.

You did rl 5w30 for oil?

Yeah I've always done 530 RL in my truck and when my buddy got a Ram he asked me what to use and thats what I told him so he also uses it.

Yes RL 5w30 is some good stuff. Ill do RL 5w20 over the winter here but our winters get cold then as soon as spring comes RL 5w30 usually goes in just this time it was not going to make it here.

Just got the PUP 5w30 put in today. They didnt install my bigger oil filter as they thought it would not fit lol even though i told them this morning it would but there other mechanic didnt get the memo so they used a normal filter :bs: so now i have to go back next week and they will put in the synthetic larger filter for me.

Read the note at the bottom, this is from the 700 page printed manual for my 14.
Been a car nut for over 65 years and owned about 80 motor vehicles. A number of them fast. I have never (knock on wood) had an engine failure or expense on any of them. I have always used the oil recommended in the owners manual. And change intervals. This includes cars with engines revving up to 9500 RPM. Of course, that's just me (with a 42 year career in various types of engines)

Well if you want to keep your hemi's cam and lifters alive, you'll ignore their oil change intervals and read that note realigiously. I wouldn't go anymore then at the very most 5,000 miles and 4,000 miles is even better between oil changes, and 5W-30 Redline has a proven track record of helping to prolong the life of the cam and lifters.I'm 61 and have spent the last 46 years at the track racing,so don't try pulling that old timer crapp on me,i've been around the block and down the track more then a few times myself, lol

The oil weight depends on the ambient air temp where you live and drive your vehicle. New England will be different than Arizona.

There were major changes to gas engines and to motor oils in 2017. A great deal of engineering and research and testing was involved. Any engine oil that meets the revised SAE oil standard is going to be as good as any other oil. No reason to be paying for the marketing costs of overpriced motor oil for any gas engine.

It is very different for diesel engines which burn a very dirty fuel and put soot into the crankcase. Even with these engines the Pennzoil and Valvoline are as good in terms of their additive mix as Redline and far better than Amsoil which has one of the poorest.

SUMMIT RACING has REDLINE. ALSO, I had seen REDLINE in Walmart and Auto Zone.
The manual in your truck recommends 5W20 but says 5W30 May be used.
I run 5W30 and no lifter noise on my 2021 Ram 5.7 where I had noise at 900 miles.
Royal Purple Filters are the best. DO NOT use FRAME. Frame is junk.

Frame may be junk, but Fram Ultra XG is not. See Oil Filter Thread for test DATA, not opinion.

Hey guys and gals so ive been running redline 5w20 and 5w30 in my truck for 2 years now and like it. Slight tic but not crazy.
Now im due for a oil change and the redline i had ordered got delayed then lost in mail. Now the shop said it will be a few weeks wait.

SO im going to pickup PUP as its available and i need to get it done this week. So question is do i just go with 5w20 or do i go with 5w30? What would be a better option for engine protection and the tick?
I have MDS and it works well on 5w20 but ive not run PUP before so is there a big difference between the 2 5w20 or 5w30 as i know some oils its very slight different in stats when warm? is there the same amount of molly in either?

Ive been reading a few days on this and i need to pick some oil up tomorrow so thought id just get opinions on here.
I use Z Max as an additive,in my 2014 Ram hemi,my 2013 Chrysler 300 and my 1992 Nissan pickup and never have had a problem. I have used super tech fully synthetic 5-20in my Mopars and 5-30 in the Nissan. I have 245k on the old Nissan and it purrs like a kitten. They all run very quiet.

I am in Texas so summers get brutal.

Summer: 5W30 @ 5K + Lubegard
Winter: 5W20 @ 4K + Lubegard (shorter interval due to winter fuel blend and oil not getting up to temp during short trips in the coldest months - I know Texas winters are mild but 20W makes me feel better)

Working great for me so far; 131K and 0 issues.
