My ¢.02, I wouldn't jump to a 6 until I see long term data on how it is working for others. And I still hold out hope for a financially feasible switch to hydrogen. Research continues on many fronts, and just recently read about Cummins work with a dual and tri-fuel engine. I just never see a fully electric truck ever being an option for me due to the many limitations that are inherent for in how and where I use a truck. I figure one more truck in about 8 years when the little one is driving. While I can't tell the future I know that I would spend the money to have a new crate engine built to what would want at the time if I can't buy it in the vehicle.

Carscoops web site has an article about the hurricane in a wagoneer. It gets one or 2 more MPG than the hemi. I wonder if the i6 runs at high RPM and what rear gear?

I'm sold on a regular hemi running 3.92 for my long term choice. Less mechanical worries and the set up gives me choices for towing and since I drive highway, the cylinder deactivation helps.

All you guys that say a 6 will not pull, must not know anything about heavy trucks, tractors, etc that are running under full load most of the time. They pull just fine, mind you they are not gas motors, but I have run old straight 6 gas motors, their pulling power is good, but they don't have the speed of a V8
I will not be around to worry about having to worry about not having a hemi to drive.

i cant see them dropping the hemi so fast maybe in the next year or two. some people will jump on the inline 6 but there is quite a few people that want to see it run for a few years before they buy a new thing. Another thought is all other manufactures are going away from v8, going to v6 and electric this could be a selling point for a few years for a manufacture with a v8 option.
I mean ford is still putting the 5.0 in the f150s last i checked. i would love to know the numbers. But the ecoboost has been out for 12 years , and they are STILL offering a v8 at a premium over the 2.7 EB or 3.3 v6 base. I would be, its still a top seller amoung build and pricers

I for one do not see it working. My wife has a 2018 Durango with the Pentstar 3.6L, that they said they fixed in the 2100 -2013 years for blown head gaskets. The vehicle has 100,000 miles on it and now needs a new head gasket because of the same flaw that was present in previous years. I also own a 2021 Ram 1500 and am wondering if I should go back to Chevy. The have their problems but not like this.

Can you be more specific about these problems that Chevy has nothing like? It's no skin off my back if you go back to Chevy. But I'm curious to know what problems you've had that seem to far outweigh any problems people are having with Chevy.

An i-6 makes so much sense these days. It will have plenty of torque to get the same jobs done. Maybe more torque than the Hemi. Plus be so much lighter. I'm sure we've all noticed that RAM is way behind on payload ratings compared to GM, Ford. That awesome V8 is crazy heavy. I don't expect MPGs to be that much better. Emissions will likely be better though. Which is a requirement to even sell a truck in today's World, not just the USA.

Electric will be big guys. Stop denying that. ICE powered trucks will not go away either, but will slowly become the expensive option. Both to buy and to own. I give it 10 to 20 years to become that norm.

I would go back. I would never switch or look for another brand if the one I have is serving so well and I'll never understand why others do.

My Jeep wrangler 2016 petar engine has been flawless for 112000 miles as has wife’s Cherokee 3.2 pstar with approximately the same mileage.

I like online engines. I loved my I-5 in my Chevy Colorado. Don't know why they have not developed an I-5 diesel for the Ram 1500 and 2500 for people who don't work the crap out of their trucks. Just take a Cummins and chop off a cylinder. I would buy one over the eco-diesel motor.

If I wanted a FORD, I would BUY a FORD. Nope...I-6 turbo is a deal killer for me. Had to replace so many turbos on equipment it isn't funny. They just ain't reliable enough for me.
Yep Ford has had that problem, Chrysler has not !!!! They make great turbo motors.

I like how in a free country you constantly get told what to do. Rather it be the epa or the government. Electric vehicles will never work in a remote environment. Unless it's some sort of a hybrid system to charge it. Let's screw ourselves over for the environment while every other country keeps polluting the same. Sounds like a cash grab for a politician.

If you're drunk or typing while on horseback at full gallop, no problem. If not, maybe see:

If they really cared for the environment and thought fossil fuels were actually causing it they would bring manufacturering back to America. That would do more for CO2 than tacking 2 cylinders off of every car. As it would ellemenate a lot of cargo ships.

"It has been estimated that just one of these container ships, the length of around six football pitches, can produce the same amount of pollution as 50 million cars. The emissions from 15 of these mega-ships match those from all the cars in the world. And if the shipping industry were a country, it would be ranked between Germany and Japan as the sixth-largest contributor to global CO2 emissions."
