I'll provide my experience regarding the new 4G adapter. Yes, it's $10.00 a month with a 1 year contract on the adapter. Cancel before the year then you pay full price for adapter. My vehicle stays at home all week long with rate usage on the weekend so after installing the adapter in November I never needed to use it. Fast forward to February I start getting emails stating the adapter needs software update. Followed instructions. Next month same thing. Needs software update. A few weeks later same thing. Called Uconnect to be told I need to drive the vehicle for at least 5 trips of 15 minute round trips in the coverage area. Did that to no avail. The adapter , uses T-mobile network which I have no coverage at my home. Tech support asked me to drive 26 miles away to go sit at a park in order for the adapter to get good enough signal for them to troubleshoot why it isn't functioning. Canceled the service because if it will not work from my home who is to say it will function in other areas that I may need the functions. They will not or cannot chance carrier's to remedy this issue. Verizon is the only cell service that works for Mr.
Same **** I am dealing with, I have probably spent 10 hours trouble-shooting this stupid adapter, and they will NOT send me a new adapter.

In today's economy, it is a luxury I can do without. I have 4 Uconnect cars and they would not give a discount as I can only drive 1 at a time.

Here is my experience with the 4G adapter. Everything works but the remote commands from the Uconnect app, other than the features that were dropped when 3G went away that is. I have been dealing with Uconnect customer support for months trying to get the adapter to update. After 20+ tries at the update, leaving it unplugged for 48 hours, driving the 5 trips of 15 minutes each, it still won’t update. Currently they claim they are trying to get the manufacturer (T-Mobile) to replace it and that has been going on for the last two weeks.

I have to add that the Uconnect customer service is each among the worst, if not THE worst, I have ever dealt with. There is no level above a second tier representative that we can talk to and they don’t talk direct to the technical people or T-Mobile. It isn’t a surprise that nothing gets done with a system as poorly set up as theirs. Ok, done with my rant.

Update as of today. Now everything that is supposed to work, works. My adapter “magically” updated itself the day after I talked to Uconnect customer service. That was on Friday 4/6/22 and at that point I threatened to cancel my Uconnect, file a complaint with the BBB, and report their poor customer service / business practice to the state’s attorney general. Just like that my issues are resolved - imagine that!
Same here!! I agree 100%!! I have been trying to get a new adapter since February. The last couple times I have tried it, it says it received the command on my phone, but I go out to a truck that is NOT running. They want to charge me a fee to cancel the worthless service.

They are charging $10 a month. Big fancy upgrade adaptor to make it 4g with a hot spot then dropped the talk to text feature because they said the radio couldn't handle it. Dropped it like a bad habit!

I was able to cancel mine after using the crappy 4g adapter. Nothing worked anymore. Lost voice text, Yelp would occasionally work, always unable to connect to uconnect store. I called and asked why would I pay for something that doesn't work. They tried holding me to the one year contract for the crap adapter but I told them I'll send it back then.

I guess I am pretty dumb. Just what are you getting for $30 a month? I am already paying $6 a month of Sirius and $10 a month for Spotify. Sounds like just another gimmick to me. Please reply in English I'm 73 years old and I don't speak tech. If I am paying $30 a month it better include sex.

I have made trips before knowing that I was going to a remote area and wouldn't have cell service.
Stay away from those areas, they seem to be the places where all the deranged murderers hang out.

And my 2012 doesn't have all this BS. But as close as I am to selling it for a new truck, it's something that would deter me from getting another Ram. Sorry, but remote start from the fob has been around for a good while now. Don't really need it on my phone. Toyota and BMW are doing this crap and who knows who else. But if I'm paying $60K for a new vehicle the manufacturer should be happy enough with just that.

Had it up until recently when the
T-Mobile adapter was required and became unreliable.
Looking for my truck and a picture is worth a thousand words.
How long did it take to drive from Minnesota to west Africa? Asking for a friend. Lol

So, what all do you lose when the trial subscription runs out? Is it just the app auto start and some 4G internet?

Which is why the OPs brother has it for free on his F-150 because you know what Ford stands for: Fix Or Repair Daily and Found On Road Dead.
;)
Hah I think I gotcha on my old red. 1986 F-250 6.9L diesel 4x4 with 529000 miles and no major repairs

Those old Ford diesels were bulletproof.

I don’t believe for one minute the law will be able to cut anyones ignition. Too dangerous. If they cause an accident they are liable and will get sued.

I found a laramie without the 911 mirror. No uconnect connection crap this time. Hid one of those Samsung tags in the truck. Free location tracking.

It doesn't cut the ignition while you are driving. It does limit the speed and disables it from restarting once it's shut off. OnStar seems to lag a bit for location data. They call the local PD and say "vehicle is at X" but it's usually somewhere within 1-2 minutes of X.

Admittedly a Slow Guy.

So IF, cars can be disabled by a call from police to Uconnect, OnStar or whatever,... Why don't they Disable Every Reported Stolen Vehicle? Or do they already do that? Or thieves stopped stealing new model vehicles.

Alternatively, IF they can track new vehicles, stolen vehicles should be easily recovered.

Yea, I am missing a lot.

Owner has to request it, not the police. Service has to be active, antennae has to be intact, and I *believe* vehicle has to be powered up. The guys who do it for a living know to disable it and then they are chop-shopping them or sending them south of the border, area dependent. Cars today are harder for amateurs to steal, aside from the idiots who leave their vehicle running with the keys in the ignition to warm up or to idle at the gas pumps, so older models get stolen more frequently then newer ones by the non-professionals. There's probably not a mid-80s GMC product in my city that hasn't been stolen at least twice...

Maybe I just don't know how to find it, or what I'm talking about.

My '15 Sport came with an intro free subscription (6-12 months?) Which I did pay for, for about a year but then discontinued it. I assumed that my '20 Laramie would have at least the same. But it doesn't seem to be available at any cost?!! I have searched high and low and there is no option to be found.
