This is exactly what I found with my truck, even on the stock tune. From watching ST Knock on my truck on the stock tune, 87 doesn't run very well. It pulls timing whenever its under load after it warms up. So I guess in theory these trucks "can" run on 87 but you're definitely losing some power and fuel economy. Detonation is never a good thing and if the truck is audibly knocking the PCM is pulling timing. My truck knocks too much when towing on 87 so I'm forced to run 89 and it's going to hurt in a few weeks. Is it possible to load an "mpg" tune which works better than factory on 87 even if at the cost of 15 to 20 hp or so? I don't care that much about the power at this point, I just don't want to hear marbles from the engine bay when climbing a grade.
QT and some murphys stations carry it.Where can you get non oxy gas for a street vehicle?

Been using this for while and like it. Agree with your other post too. My truck doesn't run well on 87 either.try this fuel cleaner, and as a bonus you can see how it will clean piston tops, this was Coreys truck one treatment... 3 vehicles same result..
top of piston, hard to find anything that will clean like this..

Yeah I have nothing but 10% ethanol around here....Where can you get non oxy gas for a street vehicle?

HP vs Diablo is a discussion all on its own, but essentially HP allows you modify anything in the tune whereas Diablo only allows you as the user to change certain parameters. If you don't know what you're doing in HP you can really do damage. I only change things that I know what they do like idle speed, shift points, throttle response, etc.I've definitely noticed the heat thing where the pinging shows up usually only when the engine is at operating temp. The first 5/10 minutes (especially in winter) I hear nothing.
So is the best tuner "Hp tuners"? And then you just purchase a canned tune from these guys for a 5.7 hemi or do you find different tunes from different guys?
I'm kind of newish to this, I did tune my GC with the diablo but it was all a one stop shop and hard to get it wrong. I've downloaded a demo of HP before and it's .... intense.
plenty of stations where I live have non ethanol pumps. also oxygenated fuel is from November to end of February in my state.Huh...thought the Ag Lobby would be strong in TX to pass a state law mandating Oxy? In fact, didn't the feds mandate it?
If you’re running stock, doubt you’ll notice a difference.Hello!
With these great gas prices we are experiencing! Has anyone switched to 87 octane from 89. I haven’t yet. I will next fill up! I never thought I would! But this is getting ridiculous!
Take care,
Matt
