Given the mileage and age, they may cut you a check for your RAM total value rather than mess with trying to rebuild or find a replacement.

When I called a few days ago they stated they would try rebuilding the diff since a replacement is discontinued. The transfer case and driveshaft are already on the way as well.

I am just saying they are on the hook to make you whole because of the recall. If the rebuild attempt does not work out, they can only do so much to try and remedy finding a suitable axle and may exercise the option to just cut you a check.

Just got a call from the dealer and my truck is finally done! They replaced the transfer case and driveshaft with oem parts, and rebuild the differential as they couldn’t find a replacement. Going to pick it up here in a few hours and will have more info as to what all was replaced and will update then.

You might open that cover and take a peek to be sure they didn’t replace with some junkyard piece. I have trust issues.

Even if there was, they are allowed to install what is called "exchanged" parts that can include salvage parts at their discretion. Warranty booklet has a section on that. I doubt a recall repair would be any different.

The first of last week they called and said the pin broke when disassembling and had to wait for it to be shipped which is why it just got finished today, considering how long it took to get there I’m guessing it was still oem parts they’re putting in. Either way as long as it runs and drives I don’t really care what they put in at this point. My original diff had 195k and was still going strong so it’s still better than what I had.

Well just got the truck back and it drives great now. Here’s all the paper work with the parts list of what’s all been replaced. I’m very satisfied with the work they did and it seems like they were very thorough on making sure everything was done right. Best of all it costed me absolutely nothing aside from the towing fee to get it there.

Nice to see Ram stepping up on this. New pinion shaft, axles, bearings, t-case, the works! Enjoy the new truck!

Nice looking truck! Wow they really did you 'right'. You have a brand new rear diff now. and xfer case.

Considering the miles, you might want to take the axle-wind-up torque off the front driveline and push up/down vigorously on the front (inner AND outer) CV's and see how tight or loose they are. Same with the front driveshaft. Just to see how the rest of the driveline 'feels' and if anything needs attention. Check upper/lower ball joints.

Happy trucking! :driver:

The original rear differential was put in 1994 Dodge Rams & was used until the end of 2010
AAM made the 9.25 gearing, Dodge called it a Corporate 9.25 rear differential.

If you walked into a shop that works on differentials, there will be a shelf or two of nothing but 9.25 new or good used parts

i did not check the invoice sheet, did it mention
Axle Bearings ?
just curious
