Ok I have a 2007 Ram 1500 with the 4.7L engine 2wd quad cab and when checking vacuum my gauge reads a pretty steady 19 but when rev the rpm’s to 2500 and let go the gauge goes to 23 then slowly drops back down to 19 but it takes at least a minute to drop back down is this saying my exhaust is clogged somewhere or should I only pay attention to the fact it stays at a steady 19 when it’s at idle? I’m just tripping on the fact that when revved to 2500 it doesn’t drop to around zero then jump back a little high for a second then drop back to 19 where it started like my book says it should?

Does the truck have any codes? how many miles are on it? have you had it long has it always been sluggish? It is a 4.7 not a rocket by any means.

sorry took so long to get back to you but no codes, it has 185000 miles, I’ve had now for about a year and it just seems like when I first go to accelerate it hesitates some but it does get after it pretty good for a 4.7 it feels faster and more responsive than my hemi. Really I started messing with my vacuum gauge just wanting to learn how to use one and not because of any problems and was just a little confused on why it takes so long to return to 19 where it started and I think I either miss understood or was given wrong info from someone about it dropping to zero then going s little high then going back to where it started. Also it does have a broken bolt on the exhaust manifold flange which I’m in the process of fixing now but there was barely a tick when cold

Ok I fixed the broken exhaust manifold bolt and I’m going to put my vacuum gauge back on today and compare readings with the gauge readings from when it had a slight exhaust leak and I’ll post them on here in hopes someone will give me some pointers on using a vacuum gauge.

Also after my first attempt at welding a nut to the broken exhaust manifold bolt which was the rear passenger side bolt my truck started throwing a p0463 code, fuel level sensor 1 circuit high and my fuel gauge said empty but it had half a tank I even stopped and put another $20 in the tank but still said empty does anyone have any ideas for what this is and how to fix it

When you where welding did you disconnect the battery may not be related to welding but always dis connect battery when welding anything on a truck. Sounds like you need a new fuel pump the level sensor has failed check the wires going to pump to make sure its not broken anywhere.

I have a 2014 Dodge Ram Laramie and I’m wanting to put a 4 inch lift kit on it or should I do a 6 inch lift kit on it? I have a level kit on my truck so far
