I just bought a 2020 Rebel (haven't picked it up yet) it's got the 12 inch display, but nowhere in the listing or window sticker does it say navigation! Did they make a 12 inch without it?

You can plug in your phone and use AndroidAuto/CarPlay navigation, it's a much better option. Real time traffic and up to date maps.

So do I actually have to plug my phone into it or xan you do it through Bluetooth?
The wireless connection for AndroidAuto/CarPlay starts with UConnect V5 which is I believe is new for the '22 model year. You'll have to plug your phone in or it maybe possible to replace the radio module to get UConnect V5 (doubt there will be a software option for updating versions).

If you buy a wireless dongle, such as CPlay2Air, then you don’t need to plug your iPhone in to get CarPlay. The dongle gets plugged into a USB and then your iPhone will connect automatically.
Only down side is it will not charge.

Does it work the same for a android phone?
I do not know if it is true for all of the wireless dongles but most of them advertise as being compatible with Carplay and Android Auto.

I believe Android Auto has been part of the OS for a few versions now instead of being an app. The benefit of this is the amount of power needed by the phone to run Android Auto is minimal. I've noticed Android Auto uses a WiFi connection to the radio while using a Bluetooth connection for the phone calls. I assume the wireless dongles would do the same.

I run Android Auto wirelessly in my 2022 with Uconnect 5 for hours at a time, with no battery life issues.

As to your original question, I don't know if there are 12" radios without factory navigation. Like crash68 said, Android Auto or Carplay mapping is by far a much better option. Google Maps or Waze are good choices and my personal favorite is Waze.

I think the "and" should be an "or"
Most of the wireless add on dongles are for one or the other(AndroidAuto/CarPlay). Last I checked there was one that is one that does both.

I would be surprised if a $1200 optional larger display didn’t automatically come with NAV. Even from an automobile manufacturer. As to the quality of it… waze and Apple Maps seem better but so far my ram has found everywhere I wanted to go.
