Hi Everyone,

2010 Dodge Ram with the Hemi

I was getting a P0523 and replaced my oil pressure sensor with an off-brand one from RockAuto. It seemed to work, i was getting an actual value instead of 96, but I was throwing a P0520.

I decided to buy a mopar brand one - 5149062AB - and now I'm back to P0523. The first time I started it up pressure was in the 80's which seems wrong - then the second time I started it up it was 95 - almost back to like what it was before.

Rockauto did not list 5149062AB as the correct part number, but various other sites did.

Any ideas? Is 5149062AB the correct part number?

What oil filter do you have? Could be failed bypass. Have you tried replacing filter during these codes?

I just recently got the oil changed at the dodge dealership so I'm assuming they used a mopar filter. I've not tried replacing the filter since it was just changed.

The WVE 1S6755 oil pressure switch I first used at least gave me some realistic numbers but it also gave me the p0520.

I went ahead and purchased a 5149062AA to see if it operates any differently.

These codes came AFTER the dealer oil change?

Did they use 20 weight?

I just went and looked at the oil filter and unfortunately the label is in a hard to read place, but it's white and doesn't look like a mopar one.

I did it at the mopar express lane and now I'm wondering if they either didn't replace the oil filter or put some off brand one?

The invoice says 4892339AB oil filter. Everything I see online for 4892339AB shows a black oil filter.

There prob is a lot more than 1 Mopar for fitment, I did not research that far, but not surprise me they put a different one than the number called for asd a replacement, IMHO... But a filter not normally cause a code, but who knows, LOL. U could get filter number indicated, replace one put on and top off oil and see where that leads, just a thought.

I would replace the filter. For $5 - $10 for a new filter, would be worth a try.

I was able to find the barcode on the oil filter, Auto Extra 618-57060MP is the make and part number.

Seems like they either bait and switched OR didn't even replace the filter?

Id do that before all of those things you are talking about, especially since it happened right after change. I'd chat with dealer as well. Some filters fail and have suction for a number of reasons, it happens. Go to the larger filter size, there is a huge issue with the smaller filters on the 5,7. I use royal purple 20-820, get that one or use that number for cross reference. 2010 that trucks take big filter anyhow, but sometimes dealers will just use small ones, thus why I dyi on oil stuff. let us know if it works.

This is your filter, looks like big one..

6.67 " L X4.47 " W X3.73 " H

20-820

3.81 x 3.81 x 4

picture of a guy ran your filter, you see the vacuum issue in the media, that is high pressure. I have not seen this with royal purple 20-820 that I have cut open. Might be bypass rating, dunno man. some filters you need high psi to go into bypass, you can see with your eyes the media?? This is your filter below used...

I'd really consider rp 20-820, if you are stuck on oem try Mopar SRT filter.

At this point i want an answer from my dealer as to why the invoice says I received a mopar oil filter but that's not what's on there now. I have no idea what was on there before i went in for the oil change as I got this from my dad when he passed in march.

I'd just swap the filter and go from there. Raising hell with your dealer, probably won't work in your favour in the long run.Just start paying more attention ,and check the oil filter before driving off their lot from now on. If it happens again, then bring it to their attention, for all you know, they might be using that filter as an interm filter, because getting the factory Mopar filter these days can be a crap shoot, even for a dealer. Supposedly the SRT filter is out of stock till next November, and that might be also applying to the standard black Mopar filter now to.

When I talk to them today I'll verify the type of oil they used so I know what to put back in when I do the filter change if they state the Auto Extra 618-57060MP was indeed the filter they put on.

Still just seems super sketchy if that is what happened, especially when the invoice shows a mopar part number along with a line item cost of $16.81.

^^^^This^^^^^

In fact, checking your oil level before driving away is something I would do. Have seen examples where too much/too little was put in by dealers.

A half quart or so over wouldnt be a huge deal in a hemi, but a lady at my work had a dealer put almost 1-1/2 qts. extra in her 4 cyl. Not cool.

The dealer indicated they were having supply chain issues at the time and indeed did use that filter. They now have the correct mopar filter and have offered to swap it out if I bring the truck in. I have no idea if this is related to my oil pressure switch issues but it's worth having them swap it out.
