Red Line, especially 5w30 has been a proven oil for the hemi. There is tons of documentation here in threads by the members here with positive results with Red Line. Many members report quieter valve train noise with Red Line.

We offer it here
Is this 5w30 recommended for 2017? I use 5w20 now like says ?

5w20 is what the manual says but...5w30 is what the membership here recommends. the thinner/lighter 5w20 is the manufacturer trying to get every last drop of mpg out the truck. The 5w30 has much better wear protection

Slick50, just watch the videos
Slick 50 actually had merit but the particles were too big and got trapped in the filter. Several Powertrain Engineers I worked with relayed this. What say HEMIMANN?

In my day Slick 50 was a flouropolymer (think: Teflon) that was a dispersed dry lubricant that had differing flow attributes than the base hydrocarbon oils, leading to some small pores restriction issues.
Back in those days, there wasn't really any need for it since engine loads weren't as high and didn't need a supplement dry lube anyway.

The only reason we're using moly additive is to band aid a design flaw in all Gen III Hemi engines.
Red Line was actually developed for flat tappet, solid lifter race engines with high loads.

Don't hate on me but I have been using Valvoline High Mileage 5W20 ever since my truck hit 70K and change my oil every 4 months needed or not. Just did a change and switched to the same brand and type but went synthetic. After talking to a couple of friends in the analog realm who also own RAMs I'm getting a bit concerned. I'm sending a sample off for analysis and have also replaced the drain plug with a magnetized one. In addition as I was pouring the use dinto a container for disposal I placed a 1oz.magnet in the funnel and poured over it into the container. Probably a useless thing to do but the mag seemed clean afterwords hence the sample analysis
So far so good but the next oil change may be Redline or purple 5W30.
Need to mention..It's currently at 105K.

I'd ask for thoughts but......

Has anyone tried using Rotella t6 5w30 to see how it would work in the HEMI?

I'd need a VOA 1st to check moly additive level to determine if supplement was needed (Lubegard).

Not doing that - I can afford Red Line 2x a year, I don't drive a lot any more. If I did, I'd be using PUP + Lubegard.

I've ran Shaeffers 5w30 with 15oz. Lube Gard Bio/Tech for the first two oil changes, every 5k miles. I plan on trying Redline 5w30 with 10oz. of Lube Gard Bio/Tech, at the next oil change. I'm wanting to compare the results of temps and valvetrain sounds. The engine is pretty quiet at them moment, even headers. I wonder if Redline is better than Shaeffers.
