I had mine done yesterday. Dealer said it took about 7 hours to complete. First one they did. Happy it is repaired before Utv season and vacation time.
Thats great news on only 7 hours. I'm assuming that yours wasn't bad and needed everything swapped out like injectors?
Also can you tell me if they replaced both fuel filters or not?

Paperwork states fuel filters changed as a courtesy. Dealer did that on there own.
I need to have my oil changed and usually that is when I have my fuel filters done. I think i will put off the fuel filters.
Of course this is depending on if they have the new parts yet.

That's my plan as well because my filters are at 30% and it would be nice to not have to pay for that service in a couple months. I honestly can't make any good logical sense of why would they leave the old filters on the're since the whole purpose to the recall is to replace a fuel pump that can spread metal through out your fuel system and if there's any particles they would obviously then be in your filters.

The fuel filters are before the high pressure fuel pump they are replacing...if it grenades, it sends stuff to the injectors. I guess if it grenades, it would also send some to the tank possibly with the return hose or bypass line. My take is they won't replace the filters unless it has grenaded itself. If it hasn't there shouldn't be anything in the filters other than the norm, and they wouldn't be on the hook to replace them.

I can see the logic in that, however, I would think it would be in Ram's best interest to start the system out "right" when the new fuel pump is in. A kind of CYA on one hand, and good customer relations on the other.

that's my take on it as well. I mean how does the dealership not know that those filters are packed full of debris and all though it be rare for it to pass through those filters, if it does then that whole pump repair was worthless and then you'll have to do a whole system re build which we know can run between 15-20k.
I personally feel ram should make it mandatory as part of the recall. Leaving any remnants behind is not acceptable to me

They can inspect the FCA on the pump, which takes minutes. If there is no glitter there you're golden.

I called the dealership to inquire about our rebuild kit that was ordered and asked if it had come in. They said Chrysler emailed them yesterday and said that the kit order was declined because they didn't have the engine serial number on the paperwork. So we re filled out the paperwork with all the info. The dealership then told me that per Chrysler rules, that they are only allowed to order 2 of those kits per week. I'm thinking that's probably a location specific budget type of deal. So now we wait and see when Chrysler accepts the order for our kit. You would of thought that our vin number would of been all that they needed? Hmph

Got an email Monday from the dealership the parts were in, made an appt immediately and It went in this morning for the procedure. So I asked and filters are not included unless they decide to do it anyway like mentioned above, hope mine does cause i'm not paying $471 for them to do it. If the truck is running, they will check the Fuel Quantity Solenoid (FQS) when they begin the repair work. If they find debris, they'll contact STAR for authorization to order the additional parts and move into failure mode TSB. That of course means they'll have your truck for a while and yes you'll get new filters. So now the waiting begins for the go/no go phone call, killing me.

Eight days from when I called and they ordered to Monday when they notified me. Of course they could have been there earlier too.
