So I noticed when it is warm out the fan or compressor will stay running all the time and it gets annoying I would like to figure out if it is normal or if something is wrong. I feel something isn't right but I could be wrong. What do you guys think?

Mine does that too. Mostly spring & fall I just want vent air not AC. The compressor engages without the AC on and blows much colder than ambient air. I noticed that it does it when sunny out on a 70 degree F day. When the sun goes down with the same ambient Temps it doesn't engage the compressor unless I turn the AC on. I don't have it in auto mode, don't like auto, never use it.

Yes we’re quite similar and I have no idea what’s the reason and it’s annoying hearing the compressor running while in drive thru just irritating to me as I’m quite OCD with my cars/trucks I love them to run “perfectly” as my stepdad complains lol

If you have the heater controls set to windshield or vent,it might be cycling your A/C compressor and the electric fan.Try turning them to floor position and see if it makes a differance

Starting with the '14 trucks that have 1234YF refrigerant, the compressors are not just on/off they're variable capacity. The HVAC system runs the AC at a minimum level to help mitigate humidity with the vehicle.

Well the thing is my ac or anything isn't on, everything is just off and I'm driving with the window down.

The A/C doesn't have to be on,if you have the heater controls set to defrost /vent or the recriculation button is pressed, the A/C compressor will cycle.Try setting the airflow to your feet, and see if anything changes,if nothing changes and it's still cycling the compressor, then you might want to have the system checked out

I have a 2020 Ram 1500, 5.7 e-torq. Sounds like it does the same thing. A/C is off, fan is on, temp set Lo. Compressor will cycle on, typically when about 70 deg F outside. Blows air cold enough that I turn the temp up to about 73. When the compressor shuts off, the air is too warm and I turn the temp back down. Process starts over. Dealer checked it out and said all was good. Service writer said I should run it on AUTO, I said I didn't want to run auto, sometimes just like the windows down and no a/c. He asked how I was setting the air...using the screen or manual controls. I use the manual controls. He told me the manual controls were just a back up to the screen controls and that I should use the screen. Problem is that it doesn't matter, the compressor will still just randomly turn on. I noticed on the write up for the issue, he stated in describing the problem, "customer refuses to use AUTO setting". I thought I had stepped back into the '80s...the car is right, the customer is wrong. I have been driving almost 60 yrs, many vehicle mfrs and this is the first time I have ever had a vehicle compressor come on with the a/c turned off...also my first Ram.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500, 5.7 e-torque and I have the same issue. Have tried many different settings and configs to no avail. My guess, it is humidity driven. Nonetheless, is very annoying when you just want fresh air (AC off, Vent on) and the vent air temp randomly gets cold and won't maintain consistent temperature because the compressor decides to turn on and off. Does anyone know if Ram acknowledges this behavior and can fix with a software update?
